On tap at the brewery...A very malty, very roasty porter. It looks decent, as expected, with a rich dark brown body, smallish tan head. Only slighlty bitter hops in the aroma, but many more so in the flavor. It is smooth and creamy, overall quite mild and very easy to drink. I wish they had had it on cask this weekend, but no such luck.

Draught at Brazen Head. Poured dark brown/black with a light brown head. Aroma of dark roast coffee malts and some dried dark fruit (prune). Dark roasted malt, almost smoky flavor, with a slightly bitter charred leaf finish. Medium bodied, though kind of a watery mouthfeel. After a while, it started to bore me.

Tap at Westside Brewing. Dark brown with a thick tan head. Smelled like grain, coffee, chocolate and roasted grains. Taste really did not do a lot for me. Slight hints of what I mentioned above but a little weak. I want more roasted coffee, caramel and chocolate from a Porter and I did not get it here. A descent effort but not memorable.

Tap. The requisite coffee and chocolate notes were here, but it was just too thin and weak to truly win me over. The distinctly sour finish was also a flaw. The smokey and nutty (carob) tastes added something, but it could have asserted itself much more.

on tap at the brewery in patchogue- pours an opaque black color with very little light getting through. Aroma is very sweet with roasted nuts and coffee (more like toffee). Taste is much less sweet than the aroma and is rather bitter. Palate is rough but the flavor does fill up the palate. Tough to warm up to at first but as the drink wears on its becomes very good.

Think lacing head. Dark and smooth looking. Smells of chocolate, malt. Does not disappoint in taste. it’s smooth.
