Bottle at Dak’s. Pours dark brown with a minimal khaki head. Aroma is some roast, cocoa and cherry. Taste is semi sweet with more fruit. Relatively thin body. Ok.

Dark brown, nearly black pour, small tan head. Roasty beer aroma with a decent profile. Chocolate and then some minor sour cherry flavor. It’s good, but not great.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 daafisch (10) - New York, USA - MAY 14, 2013
Pours very dark with a slight reddish color. Thick white head that dissipates fairly quickly. Slightly tart at first, taste of dark chocolate and very slight cherry. Cherry flavor tastes artificial. I was expecting something more sour and what I got was a nice Imp Stout with a subtle tartness.

(22oz bomber thanks Jasmine and Kelvin!) deep, near black in color, creamy medium tan colored head with fine bubbles that stick around the edges. Nose is pretty nice, roasted barley, black strap molasses, brown sugar, a kiss of cherry syrup, and perhaps some cream too. Taste is where it falls off for me, rather medicinal with the cherry syrup-like flavors, cough syrup in nature, fruity but artificially so, light roast, pretty sweet, creamy finish and well carbonated. Wish it just wasn’t so medicinal. Otherwise, an interesting attempt at a fruited imperial stout.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Metalchopz (1742) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - APR 25, 2013
Purchased at the Hunger Mountain Coop in Montpelier, VT. Pours a real dark brown colour with a decent beige head and a little lace. Nutty and yeast aromas, but not much more. Sweet taste with some light roasted malts and hints of nuts in the finish. Coffee notes lingers in the aftertaste. Written "Sour Cherry Imperial Stout". Do not taste any sourness, nor cherry. Decent Impy Stout for other reasons. Not really accurate on the name of the brew.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 boxofrane (1173) - pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 22, 2013
Bottle from Mari’s. Pours black with some reddish hues. There is a small off white head that quickly dissipates. The aroma has some light tart cherries, some dark chocolate, light roast. The taste is light chocolate, light cherry, nice roastiness. Average palate for the style but lightly sticky.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 JCB (3795) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - APR 20, 2013
Bomber from Sam’s, Durham. Heavy, inky black pour with a seafoam head that lingers. Nose is chocolatey, moderately roast, but fairly understated and not giving off much fruit at all. Nice creamy mouthfeel, maybe a bit overly slick in places so that it over-emphasizes the sweetness. Even in the taste, there’s really not much cherry present, and certainly not very sour. Overall, it gave the impression of one of those Brach’s candies with the sweet cherry in dark chocolate. Decent impy but not quite as advertised.
1.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20 Darwenus (383) - Virginia, USA - APR 6, 2013
I didn’t like this at all. There was no mouthfeel at all. It was like water. There was no aroma, either, and the faint flavor was all up front. It was as mild and inocuous as Murphy’s stout, but there was a faint, sour cherry presence that reminded me a little bit of those teddy-bear shaped cough drop lollipops that we used to get for my son when he was sick as a toddler. Kay said that the flavor was faint and forward and boring. Neither of us wanted any more of this at all.

Pours unclear dark coffee brown in color with a cocoa head. The aroma is nice, subtle but present notes of the cherries and some sherry as well, a hint of the booze in the background. The cherry flavor is really pleasant, not really sour at all, but almost overtakes (not in a bad way) the roasted malts of the imperial stout. The blend works quite nice.

on tap at work at Mermaid Juice:
i was going to review this last night but needed to wait. i came in yesterday seeing this keg next in line to go on after a stout that will not be named - and all night i was stoked for a SOUR. CHERRY. IMPERIAL. STOUT... and so when we tapped it i was disappointed. i was prepared for it to be super sour, super cherry etc... and it’s definitely not.
so 24 hours later giving it the real deal review... i dig it. it smells a little phenolic for me but other than that super roast with a little of that sour-hint and then just tastes like a good stout. i wouldn’t characterize it as imperial if the bottle didnt say it. it’s good. definitely good. and daneaux here says the fact that the sour cherry is subtle is what’s good about it and he’s right probably. on draught still... come tell me why i’m wrong.
