COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Truly worthy its majestic name in fluid ounces, our Sour Cherry Imperial Stout is anything but sour. In fact, we have to make sure there’s plenty of it available for Valentine’s Day – after all, nothing says love like chocolates and a Sour Cherry Imperial Stout. This is an extremely complex version of the classic Russian beer style with plenty of roasted, black, and chocolate malts that delivers multi-layered coffee and sherry notes in a surprisingly smooth package. The beer is then matured with just a kiss of real sour red cherries. If you see Sour Cherry Imperial Stout on tap, give it a try – like true love, it’s sometimes hard to find.

The second beer I ordered was a much better draft. A standard imperial stout with a dash of sour cherries tasted almost like a blend of Belgian Red and Old Rasputin. If you can’t get it locally you can come close with a custom blend.

Aroma / Appearance - Creamy black ink sits idly in the glass. An ivory white head is a nice decoration with an edge the color of newspaper scraps. Malt, cherry bits, coffee, ash, and anise over a bed of plums create a dark fruity profile.

Flavor / Palate - Ash, Bing cherries, and ripe plums set a positive tone. A transition of anise carries the creamy mouthfeel towards a robust finish. Other than a slight burst of green apples this is an excellent imperial stout. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to try something different.

Brownish black with a tan head. Aroma contains some chocolate, caramel, and cherries. The flavor is rather sweet with some chocolate, cherries, and some raisins. A mild sour finish with little evidence of booze. Overall a good imperial stout.

The cherry is overwhelming. This destroys the overall character of the stout.

Draft pour into a snifter at the Sybarite Pig in Boca Raton, Fl. Mostly black in color with a small off-white head. Some mild lacing. The aroma was decent with hints of dark chocolate, roasted malts, very light cherry, and vanilla. The taste was similar. It certainly wasn’t cherry heavy...matter of fact I think I’d like a little more cherry flavor. But overall it was fine. Dark chocolate, hint of cocoa nibs, vanilla, and roasted malts. Dry finish. Medium body for the style. Booze well hidden.

http://imgur.com/l3wQSAb - Bomber. Pours opaque brown with tan head that lasts and laces a bit. Smells of vanilla with an astringent note. Drinks smoothly with mild lingering bitterness. Medium bodied. Tastes of coffee and vanilla. Finishes with a slight stringency. No cherry flavor. Buries its alcohol content quite well.

Bottle. Black pour with a tall, frothy tan head. Aroma is strong roasted malt, coffee notes, dark fruit, hints of sour cherry, cherry cough syrup and dark chocolate. Taste is chocolate covered sour cherries and roasted malt with coffee notes, burnt caramel, dark fruit and dark chocolate brownies. Body is medium-full with a strong, bubbly carbonation. Light warmth as well. Ends with more chocolate covered cherries, dark fruit, roasted malt, coffee notes, burnt caramel and smoky wood. Nice!

Great expectations would be a better name for this beer. It looks great dark chocolate colour with a thick creamy head. Aroma of malt and chocolate with a complex taste that disappoints. The palate is extremely phenolic and chemically acidic with a hint of burnt band aids.
