COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Truly worthy its majestic name in fluid ounces, our Sour Cherry Imperial Stout is anything but sour. In fact, we have to make sure there’s plenty of it available for Valentine’s Day – after all, nothing says love like chocolates and a Sour Cherry Imperial Stout. This is an extremely complex version of the classic Russian beer style with plenty of roasted, black, and chocolate malts that delivers multi-layered coffee and sherry notes in a surprisingly smooth package. The beer is then matured with just a kiss of real sour red cherries. If you see Sour Cherry Imperial Stout on tap, give it a try – like true love, it’s sometimes hard to find.

Bottle. Black pour with a tall, frothy tan head. Aroma is strong roasted malt, coffee notes, dark fruit, hints of sour cherry, cherry cough syrup and dark chocolate. Taste is chocolate covered sour cherries and roasted malt with coffee notes, burnt caramel, dark fruit and dark chocolate brownies. Body is medium-full with a strong, bubbly carbonation. Light warmth as well. Ends with more chocolate covered cherries, dark fruit, roasted malt, coffee notes, burnt caramel and smoky wood. Nice!

Great expectations would be a better name for this beer. It looks great dark chocolate colour with a thick creamy head. Aroma of malt and chocolate with a complex taste that disappoints. The palate is extremely phenolic and chemically acidic with a hint of burnt band aids.

The head makes up more than 50% of the glass. Like washing machine sis. Great color. Dark Chocolate malted milk balls aroma. The taste is complex, real acidic palate to it. Interesting beer. Mellows as you go.

Poured from a room temperature bottle. Dark brown color, full tan frothy head. Dark chocolate roasted malt aroma. Very acidic flavors mixed with a tart roasted chocolate and phenolic malt finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Had this at a recent tasting. Nothing really at all memorable about this. Don’t recall any sourness at all.

didnt get much sour, or cherry, and as a stout itself, it was pretty forgettable.

Bottle. Dark, but thin visual appeal. Head is firm and holding. Chalky, baking chocolate aroma. Bountiful drink ... rich with full chocolate in the background, a nice cherry pie swirl in the front. Good, good stuff. (#5428, 2/7/2014)

On tap 6.5 oz. Pour at Carpool in Herndon, VA. Opaque, near black with a finely creamy tan head and excellent lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with subtle sour cherries and chocolate. Taste of dark fruit, roasted malt, sour cherries, chocolate, licorice. Sweet, roasty and gently tart. Medium body and low/medium carbonization. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at The Beer Store Wilson. Black hue, zero visibility with mostly lasting caramel head. Heavy malt, chocolate & alcohol on the nose. Chocolate and some dark fruit up front with some smoke & coffee on the finish. I was looking for the sour cherry but didn’t find it. Oily on the palate. Was an okay stout.
