COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Truly worthy its majestic name in fluid ounces, our Sour Cherry Imperial Stout is anything but sour. In fact, we have to make sure there’s plenty of it available for Valentine’s Day – after all, nothing says love like chocolates and a Sour Cherry Imperial Stout. This is an extremely complex version of the classic Russian beer style with plenty of roasted, black, and chocolate malts that delivers multi-layered coffee and sherry notes in a surprisingly smooth package. The beer is then matured with just a kiss of real sour red cherries. If you see Sour Cherry Imperial Stout on tap, give it a try – like true love, it’s sometimes hard to find.

Black pour. Small tan head. Plenty of lacing. Fruity bread aroma. Stone fruit. Taste is a toasted grain and slight sour cherry. Pretty good.

Dirty brown pour with light tan head. Aroma is musty and chocolate. Taste is standard stout. Maybe a little light on the chocolate and coffee.

Draft. Aroma is dark and sweet. Taste has lots of dark and chocolate malt with a touch of cherry. Nice carbonation and well balanced.

22oz bottle in a snifter. Pours black with a lacy, tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate, a good amount of sour cherries, and a little dough and light hops. Flavor the same. Average texture. A nice try, but not the best of its style.

Aroma does little for me flat and earthy. Pour is ok dark with a ok tan head. Flavor is the stand out if you chocolate cover cherry you will like this very much different and pretty cool.

Pours very dark color. Thick white head that dissipates fairly quickly. Slightly tart at first, taste of milk chocolate and cherry. I was expecting something more sour and what I got was a nice Stout with a tartness ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 oz bottle shared by b3shine. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, dark chocolate, hints of coffee and a lighter amount of tart cherry. Pretty decent, but I wanted this to be a bit bigger in the flavor department.

On tap at the Thirsty Monk in Asheville. Very dark; decent but small head. Decent lacing. The sour cherries come through in the aroma but this beer is not especially sour. Rather, it has a nice sweet/tart balance. The "sour" refers to the cherries, not the beer, as some other reviewers failed to recognize. The cherry component is a bit more subtle than I’d prefer, being barely detectable in the mouth, and even then emerging as a somewhat generic fruitiness. Hints of chocolate in both the aroma and flavor. Medium plus body; very smooth

Pours dark brown with light brown head. Aromas of roasted malts and cherries. Tastes like a cherry tootsie pop. Medium to full body with minimal carbonation.
