Bottle at BA Lounge, JFK Airport. It pours golden yellow with a thick foamy white head. The nose is caramel, wood, grass and hay. The taste is wood, zesty lemon, lime, grapefruit, and caramel, with a low bitter finish. It is inoffensive and has limited complexity, but is easy enough to drink.

Pleasantly sweet aroma and attractive copper pour. This malty, sweet brew reminded me a little of something from a soda fountain. A dash of hops pokes its head up in the mix. Good.

3/19/11. 12oz bottle. Clear light copper pour with a huge fluffy off-white head that lasts forever. Plain malty aroma with hints of dry grain and spice. Dry grainy flavor that reminds of a spicy German lager. Meh.

12oz bottle. Light copper color with a thin bubbly head. Aroma is somewhat bland with slight hints of honey. Flavor isn’t too exciting either. Bitter and slightly hoppy with a little bit of malt.

On tap at Rockaway Seafood Company. Golden - amber color with small white head, which fades after the first sip. Aroma was subdued and simple, citrus hoppiness and bready malt. Flavor is much the same, very simple palate of bitter hops over sweet malt. Carbonation maybe a little too high. Medium to full bodied. Finishes on the bitter side, finish is clean and short. Not much to it, but I enjoyed it with my steamed mussels.

20110322 12oz bottle from State Line. Dark golden color with small, fleeting white head. Aroma is doughy, mildly floral, herby yeast, slight rawhide hints, ginger. Body is medium-light with ample carbonation, sturdy malt but only slightly sweet, thinning and brisk finish with lingering earthy bitterness. Overall enjoyable, understated, solid beer from a reliable brewery. I wonder why it’s listed as specialty grain and not just amber or american pale?

glennmastrange (2324) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - MAR 19, 2011
Tap. Light aromas of caramel and grain for the malt, light pine for the hops, fruity notes like melon in the background. Head is average size, creamy white with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear amber. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and lightly to moderately bitter. Palate is medium, watery and has a lively carbonation. Not sure what the Specialty Grain is, but I like it. Not bold in any respects, but the fruitiness and easy drinking quality of this beer makes it an excellent warm weather beer.

From a bottle poured a copper color with a fair amount of head. Nice bitter malty flavor with a lasting aftertaste.

The aroma is pretty average for a pale ale with a decent balance of hops and malt. The appearance is light amber with a foamy head that fades to nothing. The taste is like the aroma with a hoppy finish. The palate is smooth. Overall its a very good beer but nothing spectacular.

Bottle. Amber pour with a short white head. Aroma is sweet malt, grains and caramel. Taste is also sweet malt, grains and caramel. Touch of earthiness as well and light spicy hops. Body is medium with a creamy carbonation. Ends with more spicy hops, caramel, grains and sweet malt.
