COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blue Point Brewing's Summer Ale has a delicious golden taste. In addition to traditional barley malt; a substantial portion of wheat malt is added to the mix giving this brew a unique tartness that's not found in many beers today. A small amount of lemon is added with one other "special" ingredient that all combine together to produce a light, thirst-quenching, citrus flavor microbrew enjoyed by all on a hot, Long Island Summer day.

Bottle. Pours a clear yellow with a quickly disappearing head. Nose is skunky. Flavor is thin and beery but as the beer warmed there was some hidden fruits behind all this other stuff. When I got a taste of that part I liked, but when I did not....yuck.

I like most of Blue Pointís beers so I thought Iíd pick up a growler of this... big mistake. Pale golden, thin white head. Lightly wheaty and malty with a hint of toast. In the mouth though, that toast turns to an acrid charred bitterness. Very strange brew, and not in a good way. Highly forgettable.

Bottle (12oz). Clear bright pale gold with an average frothy bright white head. Slightly sour vegetal sweet aroma, hint of lemon and dry stale hops. Tastes a little harsh, watery yet harsh - dry lemon grass, thatís about it, slightly unpleasant aftertaste. Watery, flat, a little metallic - ehh.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear gold color with a small white head. Nose is straw and hay with some grass notes, a bit of honey mixed in. Palate is light bodied with some light playful hints and a sticky tongue. Flavors of honey, grass and hay. A crispness to it with a sugary texture.

2006 bottle on 5/20/06. Actually retained head just shows fresheness as this is filtered and artificially carbonated. Fades to ring quickly, zero lacing, and a clear straw-golden body. Hoppy nose has straw, dill, oregano and light barley hints. The flavor is wet vanilla and light honey atop chewy grahahm crackers. Rather dulled by some water and leafiness, but quite clean in the yeast and alcohol department. Filtered and unadventurous can only get you so far.

(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with shadey, thanks Shane!) Gentle aromas of lightly sweet grain and tea-like hops. The mild flavor is a bit more balanced toward the sweet grain, but light tea still strikes a chord in the finish. Light-medium bodied isnít nearly as thin as I was expecting, and carbonation is solid. Medium straw in color with just the slightest of haze. Tiny carbonation bubbles rise in slow-motion toward the surface of the beer. Standard white head settles to a wide ring while leaving only a few broken patches on the glass. Not a whole lot here, but itís pleasant enough and surely easy to suck down on a warm day.

Thanks to DMeyers69 for this bottle. Light hoppy aroma, a bit floral. Carbonic aroma, mild sweet grainy malts. Medium goldern amber clear with a thin white lacing head. Light watery body, almost crisp, with medium-high carbonation. Starts with decent grainy malts. Light beany carbonic acid burn, with medium hoppy bitterness. Finish is medium bitter with light alum astringency. Powdery bitter with light sweetness.

12 oz bottle. Clear yellowish gold with a lasting white head. Aroma is DMS and mellow flowers and pale malts. Taste is nicely hopped with a smooth mouthfeel. Finishes a bit of tart lemon instead of following with that nice hoppiness.

On tap. Pours a clear gold with a white head. Light lemony aroma and flavor. Slighty sweet malt taste accompanies the lemon flavor. A decent beer after a round of golf.

Tap at brewery. Clear golden color. Citrusy and light in both aroma and flavor. Pretty refreshing. Would make a nice lawn mower beer.
