Blue Point Brewing's Summer Ale has a delicious golden taste. In addition to traditional barley malt; a substantial portion of wheat malt is added to the mix giving this brew a unique tartness that's not found in many beers today. A small amount of lemon is added with one other "special" ingredient that all combine together to produce a light, thirst-quenching, citrus flavor microbrew enjoyed by all on a hot, Long Island Summer day.

Sampled at an ESBLS tasting. It poured a golden color with a white head. The aroma was of sweet caramel malt and some light citrus hints. The taste was of citrus, caramel, grass and a little perfume hints on the finish. Decent.

Draught @ Headkeeper: This one pours a clear golden color. There was almost no head and no lacing on mine. The aroma is lighter but still nice. Faint malts, a hint of fruit and floral notes. The taste is nice. Hint of sweetness, faint fruits and some malts. Nice and refreshing.

This is a very light beer, perfect for a hot summer day. However, what makes it great for summer also is what gives it a low rating, as the flavor and aroma were pretty bland. It was light and smooth, but nothing to write home about.

UPDATED: SEP 15, 2012 Malty wheat aroma, light, no roasty notes, light lemon. Pours a clear golden color. Frothy white head that quickly dissipates. Sweet/sour taste - citrus/lemon notes with the faintest amount of hop bitterness. Lively carbonation on the tongue. Sweet sour wheat & lemon finish. I’m not a huge BluePoint fan but I liked this beer more than I expected to. It is one of my favorite summer ales
