COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blue Point Brewing’s Toasted Lager is our flagship product. Copper in color this brew is made from Six different malts including: English Pale, Crystal, Munich, Carapils, Wheat and Belgian Caravienna. Toasted Lager displays a balanced flavor of malt and hop which makes it easy drinking. Special lager yeast is used to produce that long lasting, smooth finish. The "toasted" part of the name refers to our direct-fire brew kettle; hot flames imparts a toasted flavor to our most popular microbrew.

I found this beer interesting; it was hard to pin down as any one style. Dryer than typical for a Vienna, but with a similar malty character. Rich amber color, slightly flat, with thin, light carbonation. Pleasing fruity tones come out in the aftertaste: apricot especially. Slightly toasty finish. A surprisingly complex brew. Very pleasing. Surprisingly good for a "flagship" beer...I find these brews sometimes disappoint me as they cater towards the least-common-denominator of tastes, but this one impressed me.

Draft. Pours a orange and gold color with a frothy head. Not much aroma, but you do get some malt smell. The taste is pleasant and one of the better lagers I've had. Another good blue point beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is crisp cereal malts, and caramel malts. Taste is citrus, sugar, crisp roasted malts, nutty and some slight hops. Definitely malt forward. Palate is medium with a good amount of carbonation. Nice mouthfeel. A lot better than I expected. Crisp, tasty and refreshing. It’s a lot more rich and complex than any lager I’ve ever tried. Worth a try.

Can we call Blue Point’s Toasted Lager a classic microbrew? Created in a time where mega hop beers did not rule the craft beer world. Amber medium bodied with fluffy white head and lacing throughout the sample. More toasted malts than hops, however the aftertaste has a crisp light bitterness. Decent, everyday beer for the craft drinking Joe.

Really like this lager. Not much from the aroma but a very crisp pale lager with a lot of flavor. Tastes a little like toasted bread. Clean finish and refreshing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is grains, mild roasted notes and grittiness. The flavor is similar to the aroma with a decently hoppy finish. This kind of a had a similarity to a lot of American Oktoberfests with the grittiness; otherwise it was a decent lager.

Bottle: The aroma is lightly sweet with honey, bread, and some faint herbal notes. It pours a transparent golden-orange with a two finger white head that fades to a thin film after a minute or so. There is some thin webbing left behind on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts lightly toasty bready with a touch of honey. It finishes with some light grass/straw and herbal notes. It’s light-medium bodied with mild carbonation and somewhat soft mouthfeel. Overall, it’s an okay session lager or lawn mower beer.

Originally reviewed: 1/21/10. Had a bottle of this tonight with some grilled burgers. Poured into a pint glass. Pours a reddish-light brown. I expected a bit more red in the appearance. Nice fluffy white head on top. Retained well. Left lots of sticky lace. Scents of toasted grains, some mild caramel, and whisps of floral hops. The body is crisp and fresh. Good carbonation level. Nice sharp lager flavors of grains, light toffee, and a short bitter bite at the finish. Dang. This was really refreshing and good. I could make this a regular with my cookouts this summer. Recommend.
