3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap @ Tap Room 307 with Erica. Black pour with an oatmeal head that has almost no bubbles and very good retention with opaque, windshield-frost lacing. Aroma is light roasted hops. Palate is dark and a tad roasty but not overwhelmingly so. Pretty balanced and not incredibly dry for the style. Erica is a sexy, sexy marshmallow.

Bottle. Dark brown-it is kind of sludgy looking- with big pillowy head. Smells sweet, almost like molasses plus a little lemon and maybe some anise and a faint hint at chocolate. More roast in the flavor. Still very sweet with a light dryness coming in at the finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Awesome, heavy coffee nose and palate. Nutty. Creamy head, reddish, dark. Same palate as nose, but some grit and nuts in the palate too. On tap at McGregors.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber from Half Time. Pours really dark brown with a small beige head. Aromas of resin and chocolate. My nasal passage seems burnt. Med body. Flavor is resin, burnt malt and chocolate. Something hinting of diacetyl. Works here. Then there’s something like chocolate wine. Then it’s more like chocolate cake. Mixed with herbs and anise. There’s a lot going on with this one. Finishes blackly bitter. Pretty nice stuff.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black beer with a white head. Aromas of fresh, clean hops, and black licorice. Taste of chocolate is stronger than one might think. Bittersweet herbal hops mix with tastes of black licorice, mild coffee, and dark chocolate. The chocolate dominates the hops in this one, but it works. Dry finish. Tasty stuff.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle @mondial de la bière. A dark beer with medium creamy head. Nose is amazing on hops (columbus ?) and chocolate. Aroma has licorice, cinamom and anise notes, complex with grassy, spicy and resin hops. Very pleasant, sweet and syrupy, long aftertaste on resin and dry fruits. Excellent.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Near pitch black pour with a short, foamy tan head. Floral and citrus hops atop roasted malt, soft pine and burnt caramel. Taste is big citrus fruit, roasted malt, pine, sweet malt, dark chocolate notes in the background and burnt caramel. Body is medium with a soft creamy carbonation and a mild, lingering hop bitterness. Ends with more citrus notes, pine resins, roasted malt, burnt caramel, dark chocolate and floral hops.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
it does have a clean flavor of hop in the mix. With flavors of malt really super toasted like coconut that loses it’s normal flavor pattern and an herb and ivy style hop bitterness. It’s that clean flavor you first get from a mothball but it is a fleeting flavor seemingly sterile. deep enough carob and malt flavors the brew is refreshing and different enough.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at Mae Mex. Pours black with a thin brown head. Thin mouthfeel. I definitely get a bit of pine sol on the nose. The hop bitterness seems to be tempered by the sheer maltiness of it. Interesting still emerging style.
