Odd but neat looking can reminds me more of an energy drink than a beer. Pours a solid dark brown color with ruby highlights and a huge creamy tan head that persists forever leaving lots of stickiness to the glass. Smells slightly ashy with a hint of wet cardboard on top of light chocolate and earthy floral hops. The nose is kind of disappointing for a black IPA really. The flavor is a bit better with a solid malty chocolate mixed with an earthy spicy hop flavor. Firm but pleasant hop bitterness rounds out a caramel butterscotch malt sweetness quite well. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet creamy mouthfeel. Decent beer that I could drink, but middle of the road and honestly not worth purchasing again.

Can. Pours deep clear chestnut with a large creamy tan head that slowly dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is pine, with some caramel and roasty notes as well. Light bready sweetness and light bitterness lingering to the finish where it becomes almost a bit lemon-zesty. Medium body.

Pours a dark brownish black color, with a nice head. Nose is sweet with citrus and piney. Taste is bitter and balanced by some deep malt, with some subtle licorice. Finish is bitter and moderately long. Quaff Score 7 / 10

Pours like cola with a THICK off white head. Aroma is heavy roasted malts (almost burnt) & molasses. Taste is a disturbing but interesting blend fruity hops and heavy roasted malts. I think it?s the alcohol that makes it work by giving it a sweetness that ties the coflicting flavors together. As it warms you can taste tropical fruits with a burnt chalky background.....I?m thoroughly confused, but I?m still drinking it!

My can [473ml] shared with HogTownHarry & biegaman. Pours a deep orange-brown with an average size semi-lasting frothy tan head. Aroma of leafy hops, toasted malt and notes of coffee and chocolate. Flavour of toasted malt and leafy hops. Average to medium bodied. Not great, but pretty good.

Huge, dense khaki head on a clear ruby-black brew. Bad can. Sharp, west coast hop aroma, maybe a tad floral. Acidic, raw, minor league. Few things are as easy to get wrong as a black IPA. Medium body, twangy, slightly roasty finish. ABC, Betton.

16oz can. Medium brown color, light tan foam. Aroma of pine & citrus hops. Tastes of toasted malts. Sharp bitter hops. Finishes with a pine resin bite & citrus oil bitterness. Huge lacing. Overall, not what I was expecting from a Black IPA. Nice hop. Color was bit of a throw-off. Medium bodied. (3611)

16oz can shared by blankboy with me and biegaman. Very deep clear ruby, large average off-white head. Dark, oily aroma, wheaty, a little boozy, slightly harsh. Taste - simple bitterness, quite malty but thin. Ehh. Decent, easy to drink, not memorable.

16 ounce can. Directly off of the fedex truck via ksurkin. Thanks man! Dark brown pour with a pretty big off white head. Toffee, chocolate, coffee, a bit of roasted pine cones, and just a hint at fruity hop bitterness. Not exactly a kick you in the face black IPA, but not bad either. The cans logo claims it is extremely fresh, but no date on the can. Oh well, still good.
