3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Can Poured into a glass. Dark Brown appearance with a very light brown head that laces a bunch. Smells chocolaty and hoppy. Some coffee in there too. Taste is a little thin. Some light coffee, dark roasted malts, bitter hops. tastes pleasant but a bit bland.

Looking through here and I was really surprised to see I hadn’t rated this even though I did rate the 10th Anniversary which I swear I had at the same time. In either case, this has become strangely common as the Black IPA style has become popular in beer circles. Flavor is pretty malty and chocolate, but it finishes fairly hoppy. I was impressed that the two flavors could stay separate without becoming a big mess.

22oz bottle, extra from Speedway, thanks Jim! Beer #2 leading to Darkness. Ripped open with a nice hiss, Black IPA’s have been growing on me since the re-release of SSR from stone. Black as night pour decent off white head. Smoky as all hell, but in control. Not overwhelmingly bittler, but a solid balanced beer from entry to finish. Not my favorite, but could I drink this again, yes. My favorite so far from the brewery.

Not a big fan of black IPAs and this one might be bottom of the barrel. I would most likely pass on this one next time.

I just LOVE you guys at Blue Point. You sure know how to brew a hop!!!!!!!
P nice and dark, though some light still came thru. Tan and creamy head lasts well into the beer, really nice lacing on my glass. Wonderful malt and hop aroma. Taste is all hop but not tooo bitter. Mouthfeel is good but not too heavy. A bit dry but a nice dry. Nice bittering on the back side.
Supposed to send a bottle of this to a Lost professional Scouter from the Island now in Las Vegas. Do I send it, or drink it? I was all over you guys when you were in Asheville to get this to the NC Coast! It was worth the wait!
Thanks for knowing your way around brewing and how to treat a Hop!

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours like cola with a THICK off white head. Aroma is heavy roasted malts (almost burnt) & molasses. Taste is a disturbing but interesting blend fruity hops and heavy roasted malts. I think it?s the alcohol that makes it work by giving it a sweetness that ties the coflicting flavors together. As it warms you can taste tropical fruits with a burnt chalky background.....I?m thoroughly confused, but I?m still drinking it!

A dark beer lovers dream, this was a hoppy beer with a deep dark color. While there are hints of malt, this was to hoppy for my liking.

Poured a deep mahogany color, almost black, with a very thick and frothy tan head. Aroma is smoke, coffee, resin, floral, herbs, and citrus. Taste is smoke, citrus, leather, caramel, toast, grass, and herbs with a bitter lingering finish. Really enjoyable.
