16oz can shared by blankboy with me and biegaman. Very deep clear ruby, large average off-white head. Dark, oily aroma, wheaty, a little boozy, slightly harsh. Taste - simple bitterness, quite malty but thin. Ehh. Decent, easy to drink, not memorable.

16oz can. Medium brown color, light tan foam. Aroma of pine & citrus hops. Tastes of toasted malts. Sharp bitter hops. Finishes with a pine resin bite & citrus oil bitterness. Huge lacing. Overall, not what I was expecting from a Black IPA. Nice hop. Color was bit of a throw-off. Medium bodied. (3611)

Pint can: Aroma is big hops up front with spicy grapefruit note to it. Pours a clear blackish/ amber with a very thick off white head that lingers. Taste has got a nice hop texture with the candied texture I don’t like in some hops. Some light malt texture with some caramel malt notes. Palate is medium to high carbonation with a lingering hop note in the aftertaste. Overall, Pretty good. Cheers!

Firstly a disclaimer, I hate Black IPA with a passion. However.....the beer pours like a liquid black hole, light is literally absorbed. The nose is classic northwest hops, grapefruity citrus to the fore. That hoppiness continues in the drinking, backed with a slightly coffee like taste. Medium bodied and nice lacing. Not my kind of beer, but ticks all the boxes for this "style" of beer.

bottle, from Sam’s Quik stop. Good aroma, sweet, toasty. citrusy, little chocolate. Dark orangy brown color, good head, spotty lace. Bitter flavor. Lite body, oily creamy mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. OK, didn’t like the blend of flavor. Malt and hops combo wasn’t doing it for me.

Pours an opaque black on tap with frothy tan head that dissipates to thin lace, leaving great lacing on the way down. Aroma is really light, maybe some hops. Taste is bitter hops, roasted malts, and coffee. Decent, but nothing awesome.

Can. Great smell, tropical fruits and some sweetness. The flavor is bland and mediocre though. It is a brownish beer, not really black either.

New Beer Distributors, NY 16oz can ($3): Pours a dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma is grapefruit and light hints of chocolate and coffee. Taste is moderately bitter, but not so much really. The porter aspects are not really that present. The body is also comparatively light and does not really have much sludge. It is easy to drink, but it seems to be just a tad unbalanced.

16oz can. Pours a deep brown-black color with a finger of off white head. Aroma of sweet roasted malt, piney/grassy hops, and a touch of toffee and chocolate. Taste of carmel malt, grassy hops, brown sugar, and slight chocolate/coffee. Also had a weird funky wine like/nail polish remover taste.

from le Mondial de la Bičre 2011, Strasbourg - pours a very dark brown beer under a solid and creamy long lasting beige foam; toasted malty aroma; slightly biscuity and with a solid flowery hoppiness; full-bodied and slightly tart; a bit soapy and with a solid bitterness, dry and bitter soapy finish, flowery and biscuity - disappointing
