Remaining at the forefront of experimentation, the brewers at Blue Point have produced a white beer/IPA hybrid that is well on its way to creating a new style for the beer description books. Our White IPA is an unfiltered European-style white ale with a fresh American IPA finish. Brewed with malted and unmalted wheat and just the right amount of west coast hops, it’s fermented with German yeast to give it a perfectly balanced character with less bitterness than traditional IPAs.

Can. Light to moderate malt note of grain, moderate perfume and spruce for the hops, faint soap for the yeast, and coriander in the background. Head is average size, frothy, white with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is sparkling clear light amber. Flavor is slightly sweet and lightly acidic to start, then finishes slightly sweet and lightly bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery with a lively carbonation. Light perfumey hops blend well with the grainy malts in this IPA.

12oz can bought at Mondial de la bière, Mulhouse. At first seemingly unusual and oxymoronic crossover between a yeast-dominated and a hop-dominated style, but it sort of works. Clove, pepper, koriander and orange zest from the wit, a fair hop perfume from the IPA hops. Light-bodied like a watery blanche, superficially hoppy like a decent APA. Still, the style, just like Black IPA, adds a surprising subcategoric dimension to its parent beer, yet remains the wussy albino among IPAs in the icebox...

On tap at Southwest Porch, Bryant Park, NYC, pours a hazy golden yellow color. Nose is cloves, banana and spice. Taste is spicy, with cloves and yeast. Ends on the same tasting notes, does not taste like an IPA to me . Quaff Score 6 / 10

Sweet ipa. Mixture of wheat beer and ipa. More hoppy wheat than ipa. Cloudy golden appearance. I guess the name gives it away.

Can from ABC on Betton. Spicy, grain, lemon and yeast in the aroma. Tastes are bready - similar to smell but everything is light. Makes it easy drinking, but not lot going on.

A nice assortment of equal malt and hops but its more of an herbal than bitter. The beer has a bit of orange and coriander. Add adds a good punch at the end ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Comes out of the tap a pretty clear amber with a thick and fine-bubbled cream white head. Aroma fills the nose with resiny hops and Mandarin orange. Hoppy flavor has firm citrus and malty undertones, while the fizz fairly dances on the tongue and the firm texture helps you feel it all the way down to the tummy. This is one experiment that succeeded.
