Remaining at the forefront of experimentation, the brewers at Blue Point have produced a white beer/IPA hybrid that is well on its way to creating a new style for the beer description books. Our White IPA is an unfiltered European-style white ale with a fresh American IPA finish. Brewed with malted and unmalted wheat and just the right amount of west coast hops, itís fermented with German yeast to give it a perfectly balanced character with less bitterness than traditional IPAs.

Tallahassee, Fl - Momoís Pizza - on tap. Slightly murky, medium golden pour, soft white head, good sticky lacing. Aroma has some floral notes, some citrus fruity notes, a hint of spruce. Flavor is citrusy and sweet and reminiscent of juicy fruit gum. Some clove and spearmint notes make their way into the back end. Crisp mouthfeel. Refreshing.

Pours cloudy yellow with white head. Smell like an IPA with lots of floral notes. Taste like a light wheat beer with notes of spice but finished with a slightly sticky hops taste. East to drink, balanced and interesting enough.

Smooth and full bodied, a bit yeasty. Hops roll through the flavor till the end. Breadiness with a long trailing finish. Not as punchy as most IPAs.

355 ml can. 0050. Canned Jul 14 2012. (Metropolitan Citymarket) Brooklyn, NY. Hazy golden colour with small white head. Fruity and slightly tart hops, some yeast and yoghurt notes in aroma. Flavour is quite alike. Mild sourness, bitter hops, Belgian style yeast and yoghurt. Quite strange brew. Not bad. Aftertaste is hoppy bitterness and Belgian yeast. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

glennmastrange (2685) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - SEP 17, 2013
Can. Light to moderate malt note of grain, moderate perfume and spruce for the hops, faint soap for the yeast, and coriander in the background. Head is average size, frothy, white with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is sparkling clear light amber. Flavor is slightly sweet and lightly acidic to start, then finishes slightly sweet and lightly bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery with a lively carbonation. Light perfumey hops blend well with the grainy malts in this IPA.

Floral hops, yeast, and buttery salted crackers. Nearly clear yellow, slight haze. Certainly bitter, although the standout flavor is a sweet pale malt. Blue Point does explain it like a witbier, but was not expecting such a classic Belgian ale profile. Plenty of fruity nonsense on finish. Smooth medium body. Has a little hop sting which is the only reason to call it IPA.
