Aroma is sweet, cookie dough, fruity (strawberries?). The flavor is nice if just plain and ’beery.’ More fruitiness and sweet buscuity malts across the flavor. Towards the end, it actually increases in sweetness and has sort of an orange PEZ flavor that lingers along with solid biting bitterness. Not the full bodied winter beer I was expecting, and, in fact, an odd choice for thier winter seasonal, but it’s a decent quaff nonetheless. freekyp (900), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 24, 2006 Light brown with a small thin tan head, this beer had a nice resiny hop aroma. The body had a solid malt undertone, but it was mostly domincated with piny hops. A sharp bitter hop rise at the end says, "I’m here, take another sip". A pleasing amber that does not try to be a big over-the-top beer. CaptainCougar (5420), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 14, 2006 Early ’05 bottle: Pours a clear copper orange with a thin-lacing wispy off-white head. Lightly toasted semi-sweet caramel malty aroma. Body starts with some light earthy sweetness turning slightly more bitter and drier toward a thinner finish. Not bad, but pretty bland. spkldhenlvr24 (455), Newburgh/Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 31, 2006 Bottle. Poured a deep hazy amber body with smaller creamy off-white head. Chocolate, caramel malts and some hoppy scents. Well balanced malts, bitterness and sweet flavors. Medium bodied, spicy/caramel finish. This is a very drinkable beer, but coming from a big fan of ambers, I feel this is missing something. Solid beer. JoeMcPhee (5000), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 29, 2006 Cask at the brewery. Deep copper/brown beer with a thick, creamy, and persistent head. Dark toasted malt, light molasses and brown sugar, earthy and spicy with a light fruitiness. Only 16 IBUs, but on cask the bitterness is fairly prominent. Sweet malty flavour of molasses, dark toast and light cherry. Nice brew. Beerdedone (1885), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 19, 2006 Bottle. Dark orange brown pour. Malty aged aroma and flavors, some amounts of caramel, and fairly dry. I think all of this was due to the fact that the beer had been in cellar for a while. Don’t do this - this beer doesn’t cellar too well. If this beer was fresh and not cellared, even worse. goldtwins (4079), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 7, 2006 Poured a clear dark copper colorwith a small beige head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel and some paper notes. The beer has a malty flavor with mild acidity and then a dry lightly bittered finish. Actually at the end of a fairly long finish this gets very dry.
