COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blue Point Brewing's Winter Ale is a hearty and robust amber ale. Brewed to chase away the chill of a cool winter night. Made with Pale, Vienna, crystal and chocolate malt. This uncommon amber is only brewed during the cold months of the year. Winter Ale is an extremely popular seasonal specialty. Enjoy the tasty balance of malt and hops. Remember this special ale leaves with Winter.

brewtopia 11-12-05. This was weak all around. Poured tan with off white head. Nose was fruity and spicy, when I found it. Taste was ok, alcohol was weak.

UPDATED: DEC 8, 2005 Bottle... Clear, amber ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Great retention. Soapy, yeasty nose. The flavor is lightly bitter. Medium-bodied and dry with moderate carbonation. Boring finish.

Clear dark copper with a small off white head, notes of spice, some malt, in the aroma, flavor is fairly malty, some notes of roated malts, lightly bitter finish, some floral notes detected, slightly watery. Needs some improvement.

On tap at Cole’s. I was quite surprised to see a winter ale on tap right now but whatever, Stone releases their biggest beers in the summer. Amber in color, creamy beige head. Nicer balance between the malt and hops, sweetish malt up front followed by some piney hops, a little bready. Medium bodied. Not bad.

Caramel color, big beige head.Light fragrance of oatemeal cookies with fermented raisins. Soft, rich palate, some roasted coffee notes, chocolate and rum raisin Hops come from behind, ever so subtly. Easy to like, a first class winter warmer.

UPDATED: NOV 19, 2011 Rerate Still pretty uneventful - pick up a hint of caramel in the flavorOriginal 2.5Aroma is barely there - had to really sniff to catch a whiff of malt. Slight metallic taste to it - overrides the malty flavor that it is trying to deliver. A little bit watery as well. Appearance is light copper colored but very thin. Should not describe itself as a Winter Ale.

Light caramel nose. A really good looking dark walnut beer. Generally dry, nutty/grassy with a little cocoa and medium-high hopping. Longish moderately bitter finish, though it's a little astringent.
