The nose, while not overly dominant, was the expected citrusy grapefruit, while the mouthfeel was thick, full (almost syrupy) that is at first bitter, but followed up soon by a touch of malty sweetness. Taste follows the citrusy grapefruit nose, though a little better pronounced, and this all rounds to a finsih that is long, warming and just a tad soapy.
I’ve definitely had better DIPAs, but this is not bad at all. JCB (1799), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 9, 2009 Thanks to KP for sharing this growler at Pre-Sex! Fairly typical appearance for the style, cloudy orange and thick head. But man, what a big resinous nose this has! Lovely and quite appetizing. The flavor is more fruity and sweet than expected, given the quality of the nose, and it ended up drinking less complex than I’d hoped. But still a rock solid DIPA. ucusty (1923), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

NIce palate - stays just short of being too thick. Nice robust hop aroma - it has some grapefruit, but isn’t dominated by it, there’s some floral components as well. Same goes for the taste - there’s a some maltiness to add to the piney flavor. A nice NC DIPA. DragonStout (1386), Pataskala, Ohio, USA
