Draft at the brewpub. Supremely lactic. Burns as it goes down. Very sour apples and pears. A little wood. Would be better if they could control the acidity.

Aroma is of wet wood, sweet maple, old yeast, dirty caramel, iodine, and scabs .. . looks like week old mop water with a small but sturdy head ring .. . medium tang, mellows out to a strong malt backbone .. . 1st impression is quite impressive, like a Duchesse De Bourgogne clone ..

juiceisloose (1048) - Windermere, Florida, USA - FEB 27, 2010
Growler, courtesy GoT. Pours a mostly clear reddish amber color topped by a small tan head that recedes quickly leaving patches of lace behind. The aroma shows notes of soured cherries, dark berries, some oaky vanilla, and lots of acidity and buttery diacetyl. The flavor follows with the dark berries and tart cherries, but a little too much acidity follwed by some buttery notes from the diacetyl. The vanilla from the oak seems to balance things out a bit on the finish. Medium bodied with overactive carbonation that adds to the acidity levels. A decent attempt overall at the style. If they could tone down the acidity they might have something here.

Beerlando (3324) - Orlando, Florida, USA - FEB 18, 2010
Growler, courtesy 4.4-40. The body wears a clear, dark, reddish amber color. A small, foamy head of tan froth breaks apart, leaving tiny spots and flares on the glass. The nose is in the general mold of an oude bruin, though it falls well short of achieving even average merit for the style. Buttery diacetyl, while faint, clouds the lactic acidity and the tart berry and cherry notes. Vanilla laden oak completes the aroma. The flavor too is corrupted by diacetyl, which lends a plasticy, buttery notes to the otherwise decent tart cherry and dark fruit notes. Oak again imparts a woody vanilla element, which shows strong on the finish. Relatively thin, the mouthfeel sports a fizzy, active carbonation, which intensifies the lactic acidity on the back end. Decent attempt, but this brew leaves alot to be desired.
