3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Gachupines (630) - USA - FEB 17, 2013Brownish red with a thin white head. Aroma is a little nutty, noticed an almost roasted pecan smell. Flavor is malty with a toasted pecan flavor and a slightly sweet finish. Nice session ale, but nothing crazy.

16 ounce pint - Taco Mac in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Dispensed a clear, amber-brown body, on the dark side, with a wispy, off-white head.
Smell: Toasted bread, ahh, and dry roasted nuts with a whisper of marzipan, faint flecks of roast, and a scant dark fruitiness.
Taste: Toasted bread crusts with a noted toasted, earthy nuttiness to it. Lightly sweet. Mild background roastiness. Middlingly raisiny. Mild herbal hops, lightly bitter. Malty, estery finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: An acceptable ale.

Comes out of the growler a dark amber, more at chestnut or even cola, with a thick and bubbly, though not long-lasting, pale wheat head. Malty aroma has an earthy, yeasty undertone and a hint of apple. Mouth-filling malty flavor has fruity, earthy and yeasty hints - if not spectacular, definitely better than most ales of this type. Long live microbreweries! Texture is smooth with a fair amount of fizz, not too thick, a little above average. If this is Blue Tarp’s first effort, they have a bright future.

growler. clear copper under and a small, stable, beige head. dusty aroma with spices and graham cracker. the palate is incredible on this beer a perfect fine bubbled warmth. flavors a mix of burnt brown sugar, floral hops, minerals, a yeasty spiciness.

Finally a local beer from Decatur! Let’s see if it can contend with the mainstream craft beers...
Appearance: amber/red, typical frothy head, nice lacing
Flavor: Mildly biscuity, light malty nutty flavor. It is a good red/amber with a lot of flavor, surprising for only 4.5%. Not at all like an ’American’ red ale with too much hops. Something is unique about the aftertaste and bitterness... the malt / bitter is so balanced that neither becomes apparent by itself - perfect harmony! Very impressed.
Palate: Mild, long, and delicious!
Awesome taste, very sessionable.
Glad I got to try this - it’s probably one of the best red/amber ales I’ve ever tasted.
It’s hard to deny this beer room in my fridge from the growler shop.
Need to find it around more places in Atlanta!

Growler @ HopCity. Medium brown color, deep mahogany. Aroma of toasted grains, some chocolate, light coffee nose. Taste of toast. Very nice malt character. Definitely a sessionable beer. I wish I had more than the one growler. (3589)
