1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Sully (1378) - Potts Point, New South Wales, - APR 29, 2004
So here is another one. The bottle sits in front of me with its credentials purportedly being that it is brewed in the traditions of the Hunter Valley. for those who don’t know the Hunter region is better known for its wine, but historically the area has also been working class and has produced beers like Hunter Old and the now long dead Country Ale. Now the Hunter is near Newcastle which happens to be an English Soccer team as well. And it is this connection that becomes more familiar when I open the beer and pour it into the glass. An almost sibilant ’ere we go, ere we go, ere we go’ seems to be heard as I see the very pale beer and a bleached blonde head appear in the glass. This beer retained its head but it didn’t say to me that it is a premier league player by any stretch of the imagination. The first whiff produced a stronger ’ERE we go, ERE we go, ERE we go’ as I detected the typical dumbed down aroma of Aussie beers, which has often presented to me as vegetable soup with a dash of blood. On the field this is an honourable thing but in a beer it is not welcome. The first sip then said, clearly and with a deal of gusto, ’ERE WE go, ERE WE go, ERE WE go’. True to form, the taste was of ah, beer. Just typical Aussie bloke brew. Is it a candiate for a yellow card? Should there be a penalty shot? No. The crowd gave its verdict on what it thought about this blue tongued participant, clear and simple, ERE WE GO, ERE WE GO, ERE WE GO. Again
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Westmeister (589) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - SEP 22, 2011
Bottle. Pours a super transparent, golden yellow with decent splatter lacing. Took a deep wiff right after the heady pour and smells of straight wet grain and some unwanted minerals funk. The taste has a sharpness and a funky bitterness to it with some grainy sweetness. This is supposedly "premium" and I was expecting something more, but this just isn’t good at all. Too fake, too sweet, too grainy, too blah.
1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 3/20 Maris (544) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - SEP 10, 2011
From a 330ml bottle on 10/9/2011. Pours a very pale yellow with a small head. Has a slightly unpleasant grainy chemical aroma. Tastes bad - bland, overly sweet, and artificial. Horrible and worse than I was expecting. Avoid.

Bottle. A yellow beer with a small rapidly disappearing white head. Aroma and taste is light sweet malts with a light floral hop finish. Low carbonation for the style. Lacks body. Sessionable. Heineken is usually cheaper.

Rather unexceptional lager, and quite nondescript in every respect. Not memorable.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20 Davros (1021) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JUL 13, 2009
UPDATED: AUG 1, 2011 Pale gold pour with a rapidly fading dismal head. Lively carbonation.
Aroma is of grainy malt, lemon juice and some faint grassy and metallic hops. Typical boring aussie lager.
Very similar flavours. Grainy aussie malt combining with a weak metallic bitterness threatens to block out any other flavours.
Active carbonation suits the style well.
