2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Ernest (5183) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 13, 2002
Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy medium amber, dense tiny particles. Aroma is moderately malty (grain, nutty), lightly yeasty (dough). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Finish is moderately bitter, lightly acidic, slightly unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Grainy aroma and an unclean aftertaste hurt this one.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 bluemeow76 (693) - Lewis Center, Ohio, USA - NOV 13, 2002
Good, but not much going on here. A good flavor, but definitely the least flavorful of the Bluegrasses I have tried.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Dogbrick (4828) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - NOV 12, 2002
Tasted at the Barrelhouse Brewing Company Microbrew Fest on November 9. I am not too familiar with Altbiers but this was okay. The other Bluegrass beers I have tried were noticeably better though. Dark amber color with a thin head. Light-bodied malt flavor with a hoppy and slightly nutty finish.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 VENOM (941) - Connecticut, USA - JUL 31, 2002
Clear dark amber. Fat and foamy beige head. Steady carbonation. Aroma of toasted malts, toffee and fresh hay. Initially malty and soft with a mellow body and gentle carbonation. Solid dose of toasted, caramelly, grainy malts with a long finish and aftertaste. Medium light body. Grassy, hay like hop bitterness and flavor. Not forceful, but provides adequate balance. Mostly dry with hints of almonds and wet walnut skins. Finishes drier, nuttier and with a slight chocolate hint. Solid, but I would’ve liked more of a German hop bite.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 gerdy555 (163) - Ohio, USA - JUN 11, 2002
good but a long shot from great. could have more malt and hop flavors. they are edvident but not very assertave. maybe this is to ’appeal to the average beer drinker.’ all that aside its a decient beer. would be great to drink on a hot day.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 krisbierjaeger (844) - dolores, Colorado, USA - JUN 11, 2002
tiger-eyed amber, clear. head like a backyard dog: responds when aggitated, then slumbers. unusual aroma of musty vintage books and a restrained pear-like compote. fairly nice tasting, drier than the nose suggests, smooth, reminiscent of some of the better, heartier english ales. hops make a mild impression, then alas, that crystal kentucky water asserts itself a bit too much right at the end. generally good, tho.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 delacerveza (157) - Florida, USA - OCT 11, 2001
this was only the second alt beer that i’ve tried (that i can remember) the first was jubel from germany. (excellent)
BBC’s version was very drinkable and compared quite favorably with the jubel.
only a hint of bitterness, which is how i like ’em.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Brent (116) - Bowling Green, Kentucky, USA - SEP 12, 2001
Nice amber color and a mild sweet aroma. Not as sweet in flavor, however. Moderate hops bittering with a somewhat dry, tangy finish. Very clean.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Deimos (80) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - FEB 19, 2001
Good appearance, forms a nice head.
Good flavor in the English Bass style. A bit of bitterness in the finish.
Overall very good.
