4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Overall, a nice beer. Malty nose, nice malt and yeast on the palate. Classic to the style. I’m drinking the bottle labeled "amber" but I prefer the "altbeir" at the pub on Shelbyville Road.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at the brewery on 3rd and Main. Pint glass pour was deep amber to brown but mostly clear. Medium white head lasted and laced. Aroma was malt forward per the style with roasted nuts, dough, dark breads, herbs, and wheat. Smells like walking through a pasture just before harvest. Decent hop balance profile. Medium to light in body, good malty finish. Medium carb. Overall good for the style.

(backlog recollected in abstinence) Tap tasting flight, @source downtown Theatre brewpub 09/2012. This was actually quite a tasty take on/Midwest cover of an Alt, even though it turned out more like a roasted porter with dominant nut flavours, rather than that style-defining earthy hop shine and wood-astringent yeast profile.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
2/28/14. On tap at the brewpub. Light amber brown pour with a small khaki head. Mild nutty and toasty aroma, biscuity, malty. Similar flavor, less nutty, more caramel, toasty, bready. Eh.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Btl 4/13 date? Pours cloudy amber color with small tan head that dissipates quickly leaving no lace on glass. Looks like sun tea. Fruity, malty aroma. Sweet caramel taste with faint breadiness and floral hop notes. Light body, smooth tingling mouth feel, ok carbonation and smooth finish. This beer is definitely past its prime,9 months old.It has some weird flavors (astringent) like tea. Unfortunately I can’t give it a proper rating. Hopefully I can get a fresh one and re rate it.

Sample at BBC on 9/13/13. Clear amber pour with a medium off-white head. Malty and dank floral nose. Malty flavor with some caramel before a floral finish.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours as a warm amber color and has a Marzen-esque aroma. Typical ’old beer’ by German American standards. Not too much excitement to the taste and palate.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle with a May 2013 bottled on date served in a lager glass. Pours a deep amber color with an over-sized bone-colored head that leaves plenty of soapy lacing on the glass. Very good retention. Appears to have light carbonation.
Aroma: grassy hops are evident, but a mild, bisquity malt base is there too as is a hint of popcorn. Marred but a slightly metallic and vegetative off-notes. .
T: malt dominated with light floral, spicy and grassy hop notes. Good sweet/bitter balance.
Feel: Medium bodied with medium-low carbonation; smooth.
Overall: decent example of this unusual (for U.S.) style.
