COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An American standard, BBC APA is a full bodied and heavily hopped American Ale. It is copper in color and brewed with a blend of pale and crystal malts, balancing the citrus and pine flavors from large doses of American and English hops to create a very drinkable, hoppy ale. BBC APA is a hopheadís dream!

Bottle... Mine poured a mostly clear, orange/amber with a large, frothy, off-white head. Terrific retention. The aroma is equally malty and hoppy. Malty caramel and very light milk chocolate. Hoppy grapefruit, tropical fruit and pine. Hearty, malty flavor up front; followed closely by an abundance of American bittering hops. The result is a brew with good balance that leans just a little toward the bitter side of the scale. Full-bodied and creamy with lively carbonation. Lengthy, moderately bitter finish. More body than any other ≤6% ABV beer Iíve ever tasted with the exception of Dark Horseís Tres Blueberry Stout (4.5%).

Pint, BBC Brewpub, Louisville. Deep amber colour, fantastic hoppy aroma, thick sided head that clings to the glass. Hops show through in the flavour, with some sharp bitterness and long lingering aftertaste. Great APA.

12 oz bottle. Murky amber with a thick off white head. Big nose - sweet malt and citrus hop are separate yet equal. Very piney flavor and finish, with a sweet malt presance. This is a big, serious APA. 6%? Really? Wow. Very good!

UPDATED: APR 30, 2009 On tap. Pours a light brown hue with a reasonable head. Delicious hop aroma. Infused with just the right amount of hops where you know itís there, but it doesnít take away from the other flavors. After taste almost hints at a flavor of vanilla as the hops settles.

Had this one on draught as part of a sampler from the brewpub in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. Dark reddish-brown pour with a thin, off-white head. Fruity, citrusy nose with a huge grapefruit and spicy hops presence in the flavor, finish is softer and nice and balanced. I liked this one a lot!

dark amber, thin white head, velvet smooth body, solid hop flavor on a slightly sweet carmel malt bace, touch of citrus, nice long bitter finish, after the cask the c02 version appears lighter, still more body but the sweetness of the first round takes a long time to start to appear, cask is supperior

slight haze, huge cask head, light citrus hop aroma, rich cream body, light hop flavor but a long bitter finish, the cask mellows it into a fine esb

Bottled. Dark amber with thinner off-white head. Aroma is fruity grapefruit and clementines. Flavor is very similar big citrus fruits with bug bitter bite backend and some supporting roles of grass and maybe a touch of lighter pine. Really awesome!

Purchased at Hyde Park Wine & Spirits in Cincinnati, OH; enjoyed during the 2nd week of the NFL season on a rainy Sunday afternoon. This was bottled on Aug í10 and consumed on Sept í11, so I hope itís still ígoodí. Appearance a very very cloudy dark gold with a very frothy white head, possibly the most head out of a pale ale Iíve seen yet. Aroma is heavy on the citrus hops, almost a little too citrusy but itís still nice, a bit sweet as well. Taste also pretty hoppy for a pale ale, dominated by the more citrusy hops. Medium body, above average bitterness for the style, carbonation Iíd say is somewhere between average and above average. As it warms thereís a apricot flavor that comes through as well. To be honest Iím pretty happy with this one, good stuff. Above average pale ale.
