Served on draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA on 5/19/11. Pours a hazy red color with a frothy brown head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of bourbon, banana and some toffee. The taste is toffee, bourbon, caramel, fruity notes and bitter hops. Medium bodied.

I found this beer to be one of the best out of BBC. Spicy with a nice bourbon/oakey pressence. I also pulled a raisin flavor out of it. This is one of the few beers I have had lately that I can say was mind blowing.

Growler. Poured hazy dark amber with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate complex vanilla, bourbon and wood aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Solid bourbon sweet flavor with a medium bourbon sweet finish of moderate duration. This is a smooth complex beer

Hazed amber pour with creamy tan head and lace. Medium bourbon, vanilla, and tinges of oak. Vanilla, bourbon, raisins, and abv warmth. Medium/full bodied with good carbonation. Nice

Sample at Knoxville Brewers’ Jam. Pours hazy brown with tan head. The aroma is rich raisin andmolasses with light vanilla, some distant oak, and quite a dose of prune. The flavor has much more bourbon character than the aroma led me to expect. There is still a rich prune taste along with miscellaneous fruitiness. The finish is woody, maybe some pumpernickel. Tasty.

2011 Knoxville Brewer’s Jam Clear medium brown body with a small head. The aroma has vanilla, sweet malt and of course, bourbon. The bourbon is there in nice proportion to the malt flavors. No discernible hops flavors or aromas. Nicely done.

This one was weird, or at least unexpected. To start, the aroma was not overloaded with bourbon - it smelled vanilla (yeah, I know vanilla is a component in bourbon. Hear me out...), like in a cookie. In fact, I’m gonna say that smelled more like an oatmeal cookie than any kind of bourbon. Plenty of bourbon flavor, though. Plenty of it. Y’know, I never know how to rate bourbon beers. I like them as occaisional treat, but I get tired of them pretty quick. For now, though, I liked it.
