One of the better BBC beers out there. Bourbon taste is not overpowering and is balanced with with a hint of cofee.

Did not like the head. ...too much like dish detergent appearance and consistency. Real carbonation feel as it hits the tongue, sweet and creamy.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 30, 2013 Aroma: (7- noteworthy quality) Dark chocolate, some smoke/ astringent roast character, a hint of bourbon.
Appearance: (3- average) Opaque black with a very slightly bubbly mocha head.
Flavor: (8- very high quality) Matches the nose; roast comes off a bit more smokey. The bourbon is a component of the flavor and not the whole show, allowing a bit more malt character to come through than your average BBA stout.
Palate: (4- high quality) Medium bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation, long finish.
Overall: Can’t believe I hadn’t rated this yet! I liked this much more than I remember; it’s a more nuanced take on the style, but I think it’s one of BBC’s consistently better products.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dark brown with a small light tan head and a bit of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, vanilla and black liquorice. Taste is very much the same as the aroma with the bourbon coming through nicely and a great hop bitterness in the background. Bourbon is flavorful, but more subdued than expected. You’d never suspect this as being almost 9% alcohol as it is hidden quite well. Nice little alcohol burn in the finish and aftertaste of roasted malts and bourbon. Full body, thick and somewhat creamy, average carbonation. Very nice overall. Not nearly as strong tasting as most bourbon barrel stouts. Would love this if the bourbon and chocolate tastes were boosted.
