3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown/black pour with a tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, coffee, and bourbon. Smooth flavor with nice oak notes and bourbon flavor. Lighter than you might expect but I’m ok with that. Abv is well-hidden too. I’ve been drinking this beer for so long thinking they just changed the label on the Jefferson’s Reserve stout but this is a different brew altogether apparently. I’ll need to revisit JR and compare. Solid brew.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught @ Fire Works, Arlington, VA. Pours cloudy very dark brown with stable tan head. Clear aroma of malt, caramel and roast. Bitter, roasty flavour, giving way to sweetish notes of malt and coffee. Mildly bitter aftertaste. Well balanced and nice, if a little watery.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The beer poured decent with a nice dark brown, almost black, color with a creamy brown head that lingers on but very little lacing. The beer has an obvious bourbon scent with a follow up of mild chocolate and roasted malts. The taste is decent with nice blend of coffee, chocolate, and roasted malts that lingers and fades. The mouthfeel is mediocre as the beer is over carbonated and every sip is too much carbonation. Overall, an average stout and a below average borubon stout. Back to the drawing board on this beer.
