Pours an inky black from the bottle with minimal tan head that leaves light lace. Aroma is vanilla, sweet barreled goodness, hint of soy. Taste is lighter, kind of dry stout with hints of vanilla and wood. Alcohol is well hidden, but otherwise falls a little short of good.

Pours jet black with minimal head. Definite smell of bourbon. Chocolate and toffee with hint of bourbon on the taste. Overall, a very good stout

Pours a thin-looking dark brown with almost no head. No strong aroma, a little molasses and cherry. This doesn’t taste bad, but it’s a little watery and not very flavorful. A bit smoky. I just don’t imagine this was a robust enough stout to really benefit from aging in bourbon barrels.

Decent drink. Not much head. Mild body. Good color. I would recommend if no better stouts are available.

Draft at the brewery in Louisville on nitro. Pint glass. Poured a deep brown, nearly black with a thick lasting velvet nitro head. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla, roasted malts, prunes/figs, bourbon barrel, oak, and mild spices, The taste was similar. It was on the sweet side with the cocoa and vanilla pretty dominant and the oak barrel on the back end. The nitro made it thick and fluffy (not too thin like the comments below) but in a way I guess that;s kind of cheating. Full body with the nitro and moderate carb.

(2012-US backlogged in abstinentia) Pint draught @BBC Downtown Theatre, Louisville KY 1709/2012. Vanilla and artificial oak-forward smooth rather than Imp stout, with decent bourbon notes, some cold coffee and alas that typical thin and runny brewpub mouthfeel that makes all of the forementioned bland and a bit of a chore to down.

Btl pours an opaque deep dark murky brown color with a thick creamy beige head that fades quickly leaving bits of lace on glass. Aromas of bourbon, molasses, vanilla, chocolate, dried figs and a hint of wood.Tastes of sweet toffee, baking cocoa, a bit of vanilla, oak???, bourbon, dried figs and dates. Light to medium body, smooth but watery mouthfeel, low carbonation, slight tingly finish. Its hard to believe this beer is 8.9% abv. The alcohol is hidden very well but unfortunately this beer is just way to thin. The flavors are not bold and do not pop. The stouts I like are usually chewy with lots of texture and flavor that is out of this world. This one is boring, bland and definitely unappealing.

UPDATED: FEB 15, 2015 On tap at Ford?s Fish Shack in South Riding and served in a small snifter. The beer is a dark brown that?s nearly opaque, but shows some cola highlights when held to the lamp. Minimal head once it got to the table which settled to a sheen. Clearly a barrel aged beer from the aroma which is deep with vanilla and oak. There are roasted malt, molasses, and char notes as well. Taste is not exciting and leads off watery. It is moderately sweet with vanilla, molasses, and a dusting of cocoa. It is also moderately bitter on the finish with espresso, oak, char, and roasted malt flavors. A weak medium body, thin texture, moderate carbonation, and a sweet woody finish.

Small tan head, short lived but with fair lacing. Black color. Faint bourbony notes in the nose. Thin bodied, soft carbo. Faint bourbon flavors, roast. Lightly sweet malts, roast. Dry, bland finish. No body home! Props to neohippie2 for the bottle.
