2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
I like bourbon and I like beer, but in Bourbon Barrel Stout the former overwhelms the latter, making it cloyingly sweet and really unpleasant. I suspect I just donít like the style.

Bottle. Dark w not much head at all. Good aroma. Oak & vanilla notes. Looks and smells good but watery and thin flavor. A bit disappointing.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours solid dark brown with small head that disappears quickly. Aroma is roasted malt, some bourbon/whiskey, vanilla. Taste is the same; not anything new coming through on the palate. Incredibly thin and disappears almost immediately from the palate. Mouthfeel is all wrong for an Imperial Stout. Overly carbonated. Not awful but the mouthfeel is so thin that itís not really pleasurable to drink. I regret buying a 4-pack of this. Maybe Iíll cook with it.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pour tar black with a foamy light tan head. Aroma of grass, some roasted malt, and caramel. Vanilla, caramel flavor with some roasted malt, and hint of wood and some bourbon. Overly carbonated. Thin body-more like a porter. Decent beer, but still the worst bourbon-barrel aged imperial stout Iíve ever heard.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours very dark brown, with thin tan head. Aroma is malty, with notes of wood. Tastes of a solid stout, with a hint of whiskey barrel. Not very complex, and a light on body. This is a decent stout, and worth trying. However, less complex than most imperials, and the barrel aging is weak. Canít go íthumbs upí on this one.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle @ Home. Deep brown with a very frothy white head. Nose is bizarrely lemony. Pissy caramel and boiled grain. Taste is strongly acidic. Somethingís gone wrong. Lemon and caramel. Very thin and unappealing. Underweight, overly fizzy. A total mess.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Keg at Beer Run, 11/18/14. Somehow I never rated this despite it being in regular rotation for years at my most frequented bar. Pours a clear dark red with a thin frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, mild roasted malt. The taste is roasted malt, chocolate, nuts, cherries, vanilla, whiskey. Medium bodied, low carbonation, slightly too sweet.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Not a bad offering at all. A little light in body for sure, but itís got a nce flavor. The aroma is caramel and roast mostly but definitely has some dark berry-like fruit notes. Flavor follows, including the berries, but that could be a mental thing. Itís easy drinking for an imperial stout, almost too easy, but itís still good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared by a friend. Darkest brown in color with a thin beige head. Malty nose with notes of bourbon, chocolate and licorice. Malty flavor with bourbon and chocolate before a roasty finish.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Fudge and oats with subdued bourbon accents. Mahogany, thick tan head, fair retention no lacing. Bourbon is more assertive on the front of the palate, but gives way to roasted malt notes and coffee. Medium body, soft carbonation.
