3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Poured a deep rich black with a large light brown frothy head that lasted about 3/4 of the way though the glass and produced some really excellent lacing. The aroma was strong of burnt dark chocolate malts, a medium leathery yeast with notes of roasted coffee, molasses, some chared oak and a mild dose of bourbon with a hint of vanilla. It tasted, (WOW) pretty awesome with a nice bitter coffee flavor from the onset and then slowly maturing into a nice chocolate, molasses, coffee medley with an ever so slight whiskey finish. Mouthfeel was kind of bold but not as full as I would have thought, more medium than full in body. The texture was absolutly smooth and creamy with a flat carbonation. Overall an outstanding stout, although I would have like a little more body and a tad more of the bourbon flavor.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
The aroma is weak for a beer of this kind with toasted malt, coffee, and a small hint of bourbon barrel aging. The appearance is brown with a thin head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall not much here to impress or disappoint.

3.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Good mixture of the level of flavors. Strong chocolate with coffee and Carmel after taste. Just a hint of bourbon. Not as dry as some other syouts

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours an inky black from the bottle with minimal tan head that leaves light lace. Aroma is vanilla, sweet barreled goodness, hint of soy. Taste is lighter, kind of dry stout with hints of vanilla and wood. Alcohol is well hidden, but otherwise falls a little short of good.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours jet black with minimal head. Definite smell of bourbon. Chocolate and toffee with hint of bourbon on the taste. Overall, a very good stout

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a thin-looking dark brown with almost no head. No strong aroma, a little molasses and cherry. This doesn’t taste bad, but it’s a little watery and not very flavorful. A bit smoky. I just don’t imagine this was a robust enough stout to really benefit from aging in bourbon barrels.

Decent drink. Not much head. Mild body. Good color. I would recommend if no better stouts are available.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at the brewery in Louisville on nitro. Pint glass. Poured a deep brown, nearly black with a thick lasting velvet nitro head. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla, roasted malts, prunes/figs, bourbon barrel, oak, and mild spices, The taste was similar. It was on the sweet side with the cocoa and vanilla pretty dominant and the oak barrel on the back end. The nitro made it thick and fluffy (not too thin like the comments below) but in a way I guess that;s kind of cheating. Full body with the nitro and moderate carb.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
(2012-US backlogged in abstinentia) Pint draught @BBC Downtown Theatre, Louisville KY 1709/2012. Vanilla and artificial oak-forward smooth rather than Imp stout, with decent bourbon notes, some cold coffee and alas that typical thin and runny brewpub mouthfeel that makes all of the forementioned bland and a bit of a chore to down.
