Brigadier (3535) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - AUG 28, 2012
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
I picked up a half liter growler of this for less than the cost of a normal BBC bomber. Figuring it was worth a shot I was not too disappointed. While it was not great this was par for the course when it comes to their releases.
Aroma / Appearance - A deep brownish black base poured with a thick effect. Ringed with a reddish tint it has graceful legs that slide down like rain off a window. Blueberries, Hershey’s chocolate, and malt drive a profile that reminds me of a generous slice of cheesecake.
Flavor / Palate - Chocolate and dark fruit fill the mouth like half melted Hershey’s bars. Black raspberries transition with a velvety touch that warms the throat. After a few sips it begins to bite back. Had I paid more than $2.50 a pint it would have been meh. At that price point though it was not bad.
