COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
BBC original hybrid style. We start with a Scottish ale recipe, using German Munich malt and UK roasted barley. We then scorch the first runnings in the kettle, which gives the beer a deep brownish-red color and caramel flavors. The beer is balanced with a single addition of UK Fuggle hops, then fermented with a Belgian Trappist ale yeast. The yeast gives a fruity flavor and aroma which complements the sweetness and body of the Scottish style ale.

On tap at BBC Shelbyville. Gros Batard = Fat Bastard in French. The chalkboard called it a Scottish/Belgian Hybrid and the ABV was somewhere in the upper 6’s. Reddish-orange to copper with a medium off white head. Aroma of fruits and sweet malts. Taste is caramel, fruit, vanilla, lemon, mint and Belgian Yeast. Pretty smooth and easy drinking, definitely the best beer here on this visit.
