14th March 2011 Opaque black - brown beer. Good tan head. Semi dry palate. Rich coffee - espresso. Mild minerals. Semi dry finish. Nice coffee but really needs something else - a bit more malt perhaps?
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Pailhead (3859) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - OCT 6, 2012
Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, light molasses, and mild roasted coffee. It pours a dark brown with some orange highlights and and a minimal beige head. The flavor starts with a quick dose of chocolate. There’s a touch of fruit in the middle. The finish has mild roasted coffee and a hint of vanilla. It’s light-medium bodied with mild carbonation.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 dumontn (529) - CHICAGO, Illinois, USA - JAN 6, 2012
Pours mostly black with some deep red hues at the edges, strong light brown head, big bubbles indicate low carbonation. Aroma is deep freshly roasted coffee, super earthy, roasted malt. Taste is rich coffee, chocolate, hint of green hops, molasses, very roasted. Body is full and dense, very low carbonation, bitter coffee finish. Overall, very good. Definetly the best I’ve had from BBC so far.

Thanks to drfabulous for this one in trade. Pours a dark stout brown with a tan head. Nose is roasted malts, earth, black coffee, and hints of dark chocolate. Flavor is similar- earth and black coffee up front, dark chocolate mid and slightly sweet coffee in the finish. Medium in body and pretty good coffee stout overall.

750 ml bottle. Coffee is the dominating aroma and flavor. there is a nice creamy texture and flavor. The roasted malts are there and highlight the coffee. A nice smooth coffee stout.

received in trade; thanks dissapionted in this one - black pour with small head. decent aroma but it is of faint coffee; some alcohol. mouthfeel was thinner than I expected but ok; taste was the big let down here - just doesn’t work; minimal to no roasted flavor; faint coffee flavor with an alcohol/astringent tone with some sweetness. doesn’t work for me.
1.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 DavoleBomb (1389) - Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 5, 2011
Poured into a snifter.
3.0 A: First pour yielded about half head. Fortunately the head fell quickly and the second pour filled my glass. Black color. Fizzy soda-pop head, which falls quickly and leaves no lacing behind.
3.5 S: Exceedingly dry with surprisingly low amounts of coffee. The roastiness and oatmeal comes through well along with chocolate. I like it. I would have given a higher score if it wasn’t slightly acrid.
2.0 T: Oh boy, I see where the acrid part of the nose comes from. Exceedingly acrid day old stale coffee taste dominates giving a this beer a puckering aspect. This flavor is so strong that anything outside of general roastiness cannot be perceived.
2.0 M: Lighter medium to medium body. Despite constant swirling, I couldn’t get the carbonation down to a reasonable level. Not particularly creamy and certainly not smooth.
1.5 D: I don’t know why I gave this brewery another chance after being disappointed time and again by their products. Unfortunately, I bought two other BBC brews when I bought this. Hopefully they will be better. Avoid this at all costs.

750 ml bottle Thanks to Drfabulous. Used a pint. Small, thin beige head. Great roasted malt and coffee nose. Flavor of coffee beans, chocolate malts, brown sugar, caramel and a light grain. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a coffee mouthfeel. A very enjoyable lingering coffee roast in the finish. If you like this style, you will like this brew. No flaws and above average. Really glad I had a chance to try this! Thanks Jeff!

Poured from a 750ml bottle a dark black with little tan head. Aromas of roasted malt and coffee. Flavors are the same but huge coffee flavor and a real nice sipping beer to enjoy at night.

Very good coffee stout. I wish it came in a six pack. Not as good as the Bells Java Stout but still very respectable and available year round as well. A very good brew, one I have regularly.
