BrianDorry55 (115), Spring Hill, Florida, USA Nov 4, 2009 12oz bottle from Woodys in Franklin, TN. Pours black with a nice tan head. Aroma is sweet fruits and a hint of alcohol. Kinda weak flavor of coffee, burnt wood, and alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium, nice and smooth, and warms the palate. Its alright. danielcurtis81 (868), San Diego, California, USA Oct 28, 2009 Served from a 12oz bottle that I picked up on my last trip to Indy. The appereance is a rich cola brown with a small pale brown head. The aromas are liquid bourbon, and chocolate. The flavors are a bit shy with quiality in fhe bourbon flavors, vanilla cream, a touch of chocolate. An okay beer but a little short of the mark overall. deyholla (504), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Oct 27, 2009 Bottle. Pours black with a brown head that starts big but dissipates to a thinner head. Aroma has nice bourbon notes but don’t pick up much under that. Flavor is more nicely balanced with some roasted chocolate flavors underneath the bourbon flavor. The palate seems a bit light for a stout. GJF (480), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA Oct 11, 2009 This is close to great, but not quite. Pours a thick black, tan head. Tons of bourbon in the flavor, a very dry finish. It’s just a bit uneven--a little smoothing out and this would be great. wickster (32), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Oct 10, 2009 From a 12oz bottle poured into pint glass.
Deep black with monster head. Fantastic bourbon aroma from this bad boy...sadly that’s as far as it delivered.
The mouth feel on this is surprisingly thin...I thought it would come through a bit thicker. While I like most oak aged beers, the bourbon is a bit too much for me on this one...kind of those off the balance overall. 1010 (206), Marysville, Ohio, USA Oct 8, 2009 Pours a deep black with the largest head I have ever seen on a beer. Pour slowly. Taste of chocolate with a hint of bourbon, which is not overpowering. This was a great beer.
12 oz. bottle malrubius (967), Valley Stream, New York, USA Oct 7, 2009 12 ounce bottle in snifter. Black with brown ring and lace. Bourbon chocolate wood and prunes aroma. Mild watery start with chocolate dark fruit wood and bourbon. Bourbon vanilla and coffee finish. Not bad. A little thin for some reason. jameswolfe (141), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 28, 2009 This beer is a little underrated here. It goes down real smooth with a rich mouthfeel and tastes of chocolate and brown sugar. A little alcohol and vanilla on the finish.
