2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at Capital Ale House in Fredericksburg, VA.
Opaque, black-brown with a light tan head and fair to sparse lacing.
Aroma of cocoa, cocoanut, vanilla and roasted malt.
Taste of roasted malt, cocoanut, chocolate, roasted malt, caramel and nuts. Seriously short on any bourbon barrel flavors.
Medium/light body and medium carbonation. Mouthfeel is on the thin side for an imperial stout.
If Miller was to make an Imperial Stout Lite, this would be it. Maybe I'm exaggerating, since the flavor is pretty good, just not where it should be for the style. Other aspects are weak to seriously weak.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Old rating. Bottle from old town. Vanilla, cacao and malts on the nose with a touch of bourbon. Tastes smooth and slightly bittersweet on the palate. Gets a little boozy as it comes to room temperature. Not bad but overall just kind regular.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draft at Flying Saucer Nashville. Pours black with a khaki head. Leaves trace lacing. Almost nothing on the nose. Not a hell of a lot of flavor on the tongue. Boring, boring, boring! Just a really disappointing beer.

"i kinda agree with blues on this one - who just happened to provide this brew! much less bourbon than expected...defnitely in the aroma, but the flavor too. More subtle chocolate and vanilla, minimal hops. it was a little thin for a 10.5 impy stout, but smooth and very drinkable for a beer of that strength. nice lingering semi-sweet finish. overall, it falls into the good but not great catergory. for the price, I’d go with Bourbon County, given the choice, but thid was nice. the beer looked great once it stopped foaming wildly, but that took a few, so i gotta knock the "appearance" a point."

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Louisville bottle. Overall a nice stout. I really didn’t get much bourbon or barrel. It seemed mostly like coffee or baking chocolate to me. Fine.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very good brew. Pour is pitch black. Flavor is chocolate and burnt oats. For a high alcohol this beer is smooth and delicious.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
April 2010. From bottle. Black with a tan head. Sweet aromas from the bourbon barrel, chocolate, roasted malt. A bit too sweet and sticky for my taste, but still a good stout.
