3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
April 2010. From bottle. Black with a tan head. Sweet aromas from the bourbon barrel, chocolate, roasted malt. A bit too sweet and sticky for my taste, but still a good stout.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The beer is a subdued, mild rendition of a stout. The bitterness is there in balance. The head lingers appropriately. The barrel aging mellows all characteristics of the beer and makes for great sessionability.

very dark brown in color. Chocolate notes with alcohol warming, and slight taste of alcohol. Very nice on tap.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft pour. Thin bodied with a strange over representation of hops. Aside from that, not bad. Has some very roasty flavors with hints if bourbon, vanilla, caramel, and metal.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
This... this is a very good beer. Strong, sweet but well balanced, this beer is incredibly smooth, and while you can smell and taste the alcohol, it is in a delightful fashion, interwoven with coffee, oak, and earthy tones. If this beer were cheaper I’d drink it daily, and as such I’m glad it is not, else I might appreciate it less were I to have it too often. I’m a fan of aged stouts in general, and this is an excellent example of the class. Great beer!

Great beer. Black pour with mocha head. Aroma of chocolate, bourbon and alittle vanilla. Taste is the same, but smoked a little. Great for winter.

Aroma: smells heavily of vanilla and caramel, cocoa, coffee. Appearance: jet black. Taste: oak, vanilla, caramel, slight purple grape, smoke. Palate: creamy and big, with notable sensation of alcohol on the tongue, lingering smokey woody grape flavors.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours almost black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, bourbon, oak and light smoke. Flavor of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, bourbon, light oak and a hint of smoke. A little thin for the style, but smooth and the alcohol is well hidden. Great beer. Tasty and easy drinking for the ABV.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft. Pours a nearly black with just a slight head. Aroma is a deep chocolate roast with some toffe. Taste is more of the same. Coffee, dark roast malt and slight bourbon coming through. A nice, but not great barrell stout.
