3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Charred oak, charcoal, and dark roasted barley aroma. Dark brown, almost black, no head. Basic charred oak and bark flavor. Hints of molasses, lemon grass, and mushrooms. Very good and easily drinkable. Weak for the style.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours black with a mocha colored head which leaves quickly. Heavy sediment at the bottom of this redtop bottle. Smell is dark chocolate, espresso, bourbon, and smoke. Taste is chocolate malt, hint of bourbon and oak, bitter finish. Not a bad stout.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle courtesy of cletus, thanks man! pours black with a minimal dark brown head. lots of nice brown yeast confetti in this one, looks awesome! nose is of lacto, coco and a lot of bourbon, like a bourbon chocolate milkshake. smells sort of like when you have the eggs, brown sugar and butter mixed for cookies, but havenít added the flour yet. from the smell i was expecting a big bourbony mess, but not so in the flavor. flavor is nice with burnt, coco, a hint of bourbon that tingles my lips a bit, and a good creamy mouthfeel. up front. the palate is a lil disappointing in the back as it falls thin and flat. would love for this to have a fuller mouth, it would be stellar.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle. Pours very dark brown with amber highlights. Head is a nice soft tan. Smells of burnt bourbon whiskey and roasted coffee. Tastes of wiskey cask, cork, wood, a little smokey, and all the flavors of a good stout. Roasted coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and malts. Very nice beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
From 12 oz bottle. Aroma roast, bourbon, vanilla, malt, caramel. Appears near-opaque black; light brown head. Flavor is roastier than the aroma lets on; bourbon; a little smoke (?). Super-silky body; nice. Just enough bourbon flavor (less than Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale) lets this beer really shine. Excellent.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle thanks to Eric. Bottled December 2009, drank September 2010. Pours a dark brown/red color with a large tan head. A nice nose of roasted malts, caramel, vanilla. The flavor is very nice; it works together well, sweet chocolates, light vanilla, sweet bourbon, light wood, more of a malt driven beast. Mellow and not a strong barrel presence. Very well done. Super drinkable. Earthy. Musty almost. I like it.

For a bourbon stout this one does NOT disappoint! Poured on draught at Twenty Tap Broad Ripple. The bourbon tones really smack you in the face at first sip. Mild smoke that is just right. This bourbon is the whole package. Slick master out.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours almost black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, bourbon, oak and light smoke. Flavor of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, bourbon, light oak and a hint of smoke. A little thin for the style, but smooth and the alcohol is well hidden. Great beer. Tasty and easy drinking for the ABV.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks to Kevin for this Apr. 2006 bottle. The beer pours to a very dark but transluscent ruby body with a thick bubbly/rocky brown head. The aroma is graham cracker, marshmallows, light chocolate. The flavor is graham crackers, marshmallows, light chocolate. Good. Interestingly different than other BBSís. The palate is medium-light bodied but feels a touch watery. Overall, this stuff is pretty good and session-like.
