BlackForestCO (521), Fort Collins and Black Forest, Colorado, USA Apr 25, 2008 Bottle thanks to franksnbeans. Poured a deep brown color with a moderate, fluffy beige head that receded to a layer. Aroma of some charred oak, smoke, some bourbon, and light roast. Light, smooth entry leads into a some chocolate and lightly roasted malts, which transitions into a smoky, peat flavored finish with some drying oak. A bit thin on the palate, but I do like the light bourbon-oak finish, it isn’t over powering and adds some nice character. Thanks for the beer Beans.
Thomas_E (5030), Copenhagen, Denmark Sep 5, 2008 Black colour with a light brown head. Roasted, light sweet aroma with chocolate and fruity sweet notes. Sweet fruity, vinous flavor with a light coffee bitterness and hints of wood. rocbyter (636), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Sep 2, 2008 Moderately roasted wood aroma. Black color with a little tan foam. Sharp malt beginning with a lingering spicy finish. Creamy palate. MaltOMeal (281), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA Sep 1, 2008 12oz bottle thanks to mmm/beer. Pours black with a tan head and good lacing. Smell is of wood, faint bourbon and a smoky peat flavor. Taste is only a slight hint of bourbon but more of roasted malt and some coffee and tobacco. Mouthfeel is disappointingly thin for an impy stout. TBone (4975), Pori, Finland Aug 31, 2008 Bottled 06/2006
