UPDATED: DEC 28, 2009 From a 2003 keg at Sergio’s in Louisville (sorry, almost gone!): Aroma of white grape, honey comb and coriander. Appearance was nearly opaque gold with patchy head. Flavor matched the nose pretty well, but with some brandied fruit in the finish. Palate was very lively. Pretty good stuff, especially for a BBC "Belgian Style" offering.

Bottle 750ml.

Clear medium orange yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted - caramel, toffee, alcohol, boozy, marzipan notes. Flavour is moderate to light heavy sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, boozy. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20110930]

fonefan tasting. Clear amber with an off-white hed. Aroma is sweet, malty, grain and light yeasty. Flavor is quite sweet and light bitter. ry and light bitter finish. 300911

Bottle @ Morten minus Peter smagning, Ulfborg. Pours cloudy golden with a small white head. Sweet nose of spices and yeast. Boozy and alcoholic flavor. Medium bodied. Incomplex.

Bottle. slightly hazy amber with small off-white head. Aroma is malt, caramel, fruit and bread. Flavour is malt, caramel, fruit, bread, yeast, sweet, hops and notes of alcohol.

Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are yeast, caramel, alcohol, sugar and hops.

Draft in a half pint glass. Pours clear light orange. Very strong flavor but I can’t identify anything besides the alcohol, citrus and resin. Has a medium finish with sweet aftertaste and berry flavors. Very sweet. Again very strong.

750ml bottle: A friend brought this back from a business trip. This one poured an orangish, dark yellow color. There was a bit of a white head on it that leaves some lacing. The aroma is decent, and fairly typical for a tripel. Nothing to set it ahead or behind of another of the style. The taste is also good. Some spicy notes, fruitiness, breadiness, yeastiness that are typically attributed to a tripel. No alcohol evident in the taste or aroma. Nice.

Sampled at a BBC tasting at West Lakeview Liquors. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head that vanishes quickly. Notes of honey, apricots, pears, floral notes, sweet malts, graham crackers, and some late warming alcohol. Medium-full bodied, with a sticky mouthfeel and low carbonation. Not a bad tripel, but kind of messy.

Clear golden with a small fluffy white head. Sweet fruit, bread, and mild caramel aroma and taste with some tangy notes throughout.

Pours a cloudy blonde color with no head. The aroma is very sweet and fruity. The flavor is also very sweet and fruity. The body is light to medium with a liquorous texture and moderate carbonation. This is too sweet for a tripel.
