3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Here’s my take: creamy, buttery, and surprisingly a mellow nut plavor, on the back palate, there is a lingering and faint amaretto feel. there’s almost a pudding feel to the ale, perhaps caramel. I’ve sampled a few of the BBC brews thus far, and this places second only to the Jefferson’s Reserve Bourbon Barrel Stout. I liken the aroma and back palate flavor to that of some of the He’Brew brews. The head is thick and almost khaki. I definitely recommend this beer, as the BBC definitely has found a winner here. it’s not exceptional, but for BBC it is definitely above average. While the hops are noticable, i still think theat if there were a bit more bitterness and hops complexity to it, i wouldn’t complain, but nonetheless it is a good brew.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled from tap on 10/14/2006 at McQuiston’s Malthouse in Madison, Indiana...
Dark amber color with a thick creamy head. Mild carbation lending to this beer’s smooth and creamy mouthfeel. The aroma is roasted malt and nuts. Initial flavor is full, rich, malty, weak coffee. Then it becomes nutty and buttery (butter pecan?). The finish is drier, some bitterness, and like weak coffee again. There is just enough bitterness to balance this beer and stay slightly hidden. Medium body. I was quite pleased with this beer and really enjoyed it. This is a solid Nut Brown Ale.
6 oz draught, $1.50 at McQuiston’s Malthouse.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours with no head, body is a dark ruddy red-brown, some cloudiness. Aroma is buttery, nutty, sweet, almost too much. Taste is bitter, slight oxidation. Sweet, nutty, very mineralized. Finish brings out nuttiness. Body is pretty watered down.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark brown, clear, with a lingering dark cream head. While cold it has a smokiness, fading with warmth to a more vanilla, milky coffee. A little thin, with some lingering notes of cigarette ashes. Drinkable but not memorable. Thanks Kevin!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, very slight gusher. A tad on the dark side for a brown ale with a nice dense 1/4 inch head. Nose-roasty and sour milk. Tatse-slightly lactic and sour, woody, peanut shells, obligatory chocolate, roasty, medium malts. A decent interpretation of a dull and bland style.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle, via Kevin. Pours a clear dark amber under a one finger light brown foamy head that faded to a thin film. Aroma is very nutty with a light hoppiness. A little chocolate malt as well. The flavor is a little grainy but quite nutty and full flavored. The finish is lightly bitter with some chocolate. Mouthfeel is thinnish with fizzy forced carbonation. Texture is trying to be creamy but the carbonation interferes. Overall, this was maybe a little better than average for a Brown Ale, but still nothing exciting.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
bottle - This is a basic, decent brown ale. It smells of roasted malts. It tastes like roasted malts with some nuttiness. There’s a mildly dry finish and not much hops presence. It’s uncomplicated and not bad.
