COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
BBC Nut Brown Ale has a diverse grain bill which lends this traditional English ale a variety of flavors that coalesce into a remarkably smooth and pleasant drink. Additions of various pale, caramel and dark malts create a smooth, sweet malt profile with hints of roasted nuttiness. Multiple additions of English hops round out the flavors and give this classic beer a true flavor of the Old World.

Bottle thanks to beerbill. Pours with a hazy brown body and a tan head. Aroma of nuts, caramel, light sherry and vinous notes. A bit of chocolate covered raisins as well. Flavor is kind of bland. Some caramel, some raisin and vinous notes. A touch of chocolate, but it is pretty watery. Medium to light bubbles, watery mouthfeel.

Bottle from Squire’s. Hazy deep brown pour with ruby edges and nose of caramel malt, hops, brown sugar, almonds, and red wine grapes. Tastes malty, with brown sugar, fig, and a nut medley including almond, cashew, and walnut. Smooth and enjoyable.

UPDATED: APR 13, 2004 Rerate 04/01/2004: Tried a glass of this at the BBC in the Cincinnati airport. This was a lot better than the last time I tried it. This was their current seasonal selection. Clear dark brown with a medium thick beige head. Thin lacing. The aroma is very nutty, along with a touch of malt. Nicely smooth with a roasty and nutty character. Malt and hops are also present in the flavor. The finish is crisp and nutty. Overall my experience with the beer this time around was much more favorable.

11/12/2002 (3.0): Tasted at the Barrelhouse Brewing Company Microbrew Fest on November 9. This was just called "Nut Brown Ale", so maybe they brew it every year on their anniversary. Dark brown with a thin head. For some reason I got impressions of bubblegum in the flavor along with the malt. It also had a slightly sour finish. This was an odd beer.

On tap at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky airport: Pours a transparent dark copper mahogany with a thin coating of light tan head. Dry subtle malty and nutty aroma has some toasty grainy notes. Body starts with a mild dry caramel malty sweetness, thinning some before a bittersweet, lightly tart, lingering nutty finish. A decent brown ale.

Appearance: Rustic amber with reddish hue , light top.
Nose :Medium depth , brown malts , sweet-earthy side, light coco hints at end.6+
Flavor/Palate : Fairly soft bodied almost creamy in texture. Slightly acidic , woody earthy foliage feel. Nutty with autumn foliage. Unconvincing attempt.

phaleslu (6204) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 12, 2010
Draft sample at the St. Matthews brewery. Pours a clear brown color with a small tan head. Aroma of nuts, brown sugar, toasted malts, caramel, and very faint hops. The flavor is sweet and toasty, with malts, nuts, caramel, brown sugar, and cardboard. Light-medium bodied, with average carbonation and a toasty mouthfeel. Very plain, unexciting nut brown ale.

12oz bottle, thanks to Thunder. Somewhat hazy brown / red color, minimal off-white head. A bit more sharp, moderate carbonation. Decent mild chocolate nutty malt aroma, with a more sweet taste. Some caramel in there. Ok, but Iím not really a huge fan.

this one was all over the place .. . pours a medium tan .. light foamers .. . why do women soccer players just not have tits? .. light brown bread, un sweetened maple syrup, and light nuts .. . light mouth, muddled finish - just average .. . . "Spin-off!" Is there any word more thrilling to the human soul?
