3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Deeply nutty aroma, strong toffee and dark chocolate, kinda of a dessert cake feel but drier and roasty. Faint wood. Much different than expected. Clear, dark mahogany pour with a creamy, tiny-bubbled, rocky thick beige head - look a lot like a meaty Altbier. All the aromatic notes are duplicated in the taste, with the addition of wispy hops to the rich, more-than-medium body. Earthy with devilish lactose, just a touch of sweetness. Smooth and viscous, with a dry, woody aftertaste. A great session with a flair for the dramatic!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle, via Kevin. Pours a clear dark amber under a one finger light brown foamy head that faded to a thin film. Aroma is very nutty with a light hoppiness. A little chocolate malt as well. The flavor is a little grainy but quite nutty and full flavored. The finish is lightly bitter with some chocolate. Mouthfeel is thinnish with fizzy forced carbonation. Texture is trying to be creamy but the carbonation interferes. Overall, this was maybe a little better than average for a Brown Ale, but still nothing exciting.

Sample at BBC on 9/13/13. Clear brown pour with a medium off-white head. Malt and pungent fruit on the nose with a bit of nuttiness. Malty flavor with stone fruit accents before a dry finish.

Thanks to weeare138. Pours a translucent golden amber with a small bubbly off white head. Aroma was nutty, toasty, hints of choccolate, some caramel and honey. Flavors of the same. A bit on the thin side.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a thick creamy rosy beige head. The aroma is roasted malt and nuts. Initial flavor is pretty full, rich, malty, weak coffee. Later it becomes a bit more nutty. The finish is dry, some bitterness, with a very weak coffee note. The bitterness is moderate but adds balance to the rest of the flavors. Medium body and somewhat smooth. A decent local offering.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft to taster at BBC. Looks solid; a transparent copper with iff-white lacing. Smells and tastes malty and nutty with hints of caramel and an average mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle. Toffee brown orange color. Mild roasty aroma. Lots of dark malt flavor, very rich, borderline Porter territory. Some nuttiness does come through. MIld stuff, a lighter side of a full bodied brown. Very well done. The best Brown Ale from Kentucky that I’ve ever had.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
The middle point of my seven-flight sampler and these beers don’t get much better, kind of devoid of character. Hazy brown with a thin head. Light roasted malt aroma. Taste of burnt malts, mild nuttiness and once again, bland. Finishes bitter.
