2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Brown in color with a thin white head that stays. An almost astringent nutty aroma? Like burnt wood. An average nutty, roasty flavor. They did a great job on getting that "english ale" flavor in there. Itís also watery, like many english ales. A good beer. Definitely not insulting to the palate.

12oz bottle. I like Nut Brown ales so I enjoyed this beer but I was disappointed. It was a little thin in color and in flavor/palate. There was not enough malt sweetness/nuttiness.

Iím really not a fan of this style, poured a medium brown color with a thin white head which quickly faded away. Aroma was a mix of caramel and nuts. Flavor seemed one-demntional, an almost walnut flavor, with some barley noticable caramel notes. Hops were very mild.

The middle point of my seven-flight sampler and these beers donít get much better, kind of devoid of character. Hazy brown with a thin head. Light roasted malt aroma. Taste of burnt malts, mild nuttiness and once again, bland. Finishes bitter.

Average brown ale. Brown color and small tan head. Medium body. Caramel malts make up most of the flavor. Light to medium body.

UPDATED: MAY 7, 2013 Pours a soda brown with a amber hue. Very little head even with an aggressive pour, and head completely disappeared within moments leaving no lacing whatsoever. Faint aroma of roasty hazelnut, malt, caramel and toffee. Very nice, but far too faint. Taste is very nutty up front. Not just hazelnut either, but a nice combo of several different nuts. Roasty malts, caramel and toffee come through very well, especially in the aftertaste. Palate is thin with a watery texture. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Overall a decent beer, but the palate and faint aroma really hurt it.

This is a pretty nice looking beer w/ its slightly cloudy brown color and small head of evenly sized bubbles. The nose is mildly roast w/ some caramel and fruity apple notes. The flavor is mild and drinkable, just a touch of darker malts and roast, medium dry w/ brisk carbonation. It is decently balanced though I feel it would benefit if the carbonation was toned down a hair. Decent enough brew but it is neither perfectly executed nor particularly flavorful so Iíd say itís just a bit above average for the style.

Hazy amber with a full off-white head and good lacing. Taste is heavy with sweet caramel and hazelnut malt. It is a big brown ale that is a tad filling, leaving a coating on the tongue. Decent, but not one to seek out.
