I think shigadeyo said it all pretty well. I also get rye and vanilla in the aroma. Flavor has a heavier alcohol taste and texture to it compared to the regular rye 75, and pick up the butter mid palate. This is a dissapointing "upgrade"

7/03/2009: I had high hopes for this beer, but I was pretty disappointed with the Bluegrass Oak Aged Rye 75. It has the same great appearance as the regular Rye 75 and the aroma of vanilla and hints of citrusy hops is even encouraging, but the flavor is just way too soft. There is some sort of weird buttery taste in it as well. The finish is dry and spicy, but even that is toned down. All that really remains of the original beer is the great, lasting, moderate to high bitterness that sticks to the roof of the mouth and the back of the throat! This beer has a really mellow mouthfeel with a smooth and creamy texture. Maybe the lesson learned is not to mess with what is a great beer to begin with! I’d take the regular Rye 75 over this version without hesitation. I think that the oak aging really stripped a lot of the hop and great rye characteristics from this beer while imparting a detrimental butter/creamy flavor.

Draught (sample) at Party Town in Florence, Kentucky. Rating #1 for this beer.
