18-DEC-2010, draft at Mikkeller Bar.
Black with red’ish hue.
What is this?
A schwartzbier...? Not very roasted, on the light side with charamel.
Very easy drinking, but really too expensive for what it is. Many better brews on tap here...

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: DEC 28, 2007 Imperial pint at Maido - Pours dark amber with a mostly maintained wispy off-white head. Aroma of vinous English hops, spicy Fuggles and earthy malt. Taste is lightly sweet, moderately resinous with the low alpha English hops. Still some piney and citric flavors. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with lush carbonation. Pretty easy drinking for 9% due to good attenuation.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Half at BBC St. Matt’s. Aroma: Mostly toffee/caramel type malts with some very light fruity esters; not much in the way of hops here. Appearance: Amber pour with soft carbonation holding up a sticky bone coloured skin of head. Flavor: Matches the nose with malts and light fruitiness throughout; the finish is abrupt and mostly dry. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: Pretty ordinary, but drinkable malt forward beer. With this beer, I’m now tied with TheBeerOrg for the second most BBC rates.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at st. Matthews brewpub served in half pint flute. Not really offensive, but simply not balanced or very drinkable. There seems to be a total lack of direction/style.

Draught. Unclear dark with a beige head. Caramel, bread, figs, roasted mats in aroma. Sweet flavour with lots of caramel, brown sugar and toasted malts along with a good bitterness and a lot of coronation.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark amber brown with an off white head. Aroma is roasted malts, with hints of coffee and a little bit of dank earthiness. Flavor is dry, roasty, and with a little bit of earthy bitterness. Pretty good.
