2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
750mL bottle in trade from drfabulous. Cheer, Jeff! Pours a dark porter brown with a medium tan head. Nose is roast, dark fruit, earth, and cocoa. Flavor is similar with some roast, some coffee, some dark fruit, and some earth. Very light in body for the style and little hint of the alcohol present except for the sweetness.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml from my man StFun - thanks, Josh!!! Decided to sample this as NFL preseason kicks off (yes, I am lame). Nice dark brown pour, thick and oily, and with minimal head but some decent sticky lace. Strong chocolate notes in the aroma, along with slight fruity and lactic traits. Really enjoyable mouthfeel, the kind of thing thatís great to roll around in the mouth. Silky feel is abetted by the recurrence of Baltic properties in the flavor, and there are also some fine bitter and smoke elements coming in there. But overall itís a thick milkshake of a beer, and quite enjoyable as such.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle. Poured a cloudy, nearly opaque black color with a bit of red around the edges and a tan head. Big molasses and milk chocolate aroma with a hint of alcohol. Slightly sweet on the tongue and medium bodied with a relatively creamy mouth feel. Tasted of chocolate and rum soaked fruit cake made with plum, raisin, and fig. Not too bad.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Small fizzy tan head that was mostly lasting, next to no lacing, very little carbonation noted, semi-opaque, and a dark brown hue with a reddish tint. Nose was semi-roasty, sweet, chocolate, and some dark fruit. The flavor was roasty, chocolate, semi-sweet, dark fruits, and a hint of alcohol. Finishes dry. Smooth, dry mouthfeel and medium body. Quaffable, good for the style, nicely done, ABV well masked, well balanced, and worthy of a try.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
bottle....pours almost black but barely allows some light to pass through. s sustaining fluffy light tan head also came with it.....chocolate and cocoa made up most of the nose. there was also a little dark fruit presence as well.....chocolate and dark fruit in the flavor. medium carbonation with a full creamy mouthfeel. it finished off on a slight bitter note. pretty drinkable even at 11%.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2008 big thanks to StFun for sending this my way... cloudy opaque woody black pour with a soft light brown head and drippy lacing. aromas of cherry, prunes, golden raisins, wood, grain, sour/milky and chocolate. the flavor is mildly reminiscent of red wine, prune-y, acetone/booze, wood, grass, vanilla, grain and light spice. it gets a bit tingly from the hops before it finishes sour, lightly astringent and dry. nice mellow aftertaste of charred wood. medium body with creamy soft carbonation. it’s rather smooth except for the sourness and parching hop qualities. the mouth feel seems to get a bit thin as it warms. quite tasty... baltic porter?... 3.5/no. imperial porter... 4.0/yes! 8/4/7/3/16/3.8
i guess i have to re-rate this now as it is an imperial porter!8/4/8/3/17/4.0

UPDATED: APR 5, 2007 Pour from a 750mL. Thanks BBB63. Faint toaste oak aroma, with light weak malt. Deep mahogany pour with lilting tawny cream head. Flavor comes across as a somewhat dry, bland middle-malt, with overly hot alcohols. One of the hottest beers in memory for me, actually. Tannins are singing and donít lead to other nuanced flavors. Cherry perks up before being washed away in fusels. Not much body or depth, unfortunately.
