Black with a creamy light brown head. Chocolate and coffee aroma and taste with some slight berry notes. Pretty good.

10th Columbus Tasting (Christmas 2007)Looked great, smelled great, and then...tasted like bitter chocolate. It is like when you were little and use to sneak the chocolate from the pantry only you find it was unsweetened, and then the bitter finish made it end worse.

Bottle shared at Columbus Tasting 10. Poured a very dark, thick brown. Smelled of burnt coffee. Taste was VERY much thick black coffee. Hoppy and bitter on the end. No sweetness what so ever here, and I was not a huge fan. But more becaus of the style then the beer.

Had I known this beer wasn't rated, I would've made more notes. This is a solid RIS with a decent caramel colored head. The flavor and finish are roasty and bitter, not as sweet and malty as some. The only detractor was a noticeable amount of diacetyl (buttery flavor). Without that, it would've been close to "excellent."
