7/03/2009: Bluegrass Quad is much different than expected. It has a sweet caramel and candi sugar aroma, a deep honey color, and a frothy ivory head. Wow, the flavor is like thin red wine, maple syrup, and deep raspberry. I have no idea what the alcohol content is of this beer, but I’m sure that it’s pretty high, but the flavor doesn’t give it away at all! It isn’t hot and the full body of this beer is feels thick, creamy, and mellow on the palate. Very good!

Draught (sample) at Party Town in Florence, Kentucky. Rating #2 for this beer.

On draught. Pours a clear golden color with a nice head. Suggestions of banana, clove, and wooden hops along with corn husks are found in the nose. The mouthfeel is pretty light on this one. Light spices like coriander are hinted at. A good level of woody acidity is here, though the finish is kind of corny. This is just okay. It really leans away from any serious Belgian characteristics and more towards a light, golden ale which makes it less exciting. I have to say though, I prefer this light thirst quencher to their overly syrupy quadruple ale.
