COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A European style lager brewed from the finest quality pilsner malts. This beer is fermented at a lower temperature than most Australian lagers, and employs an extended maturation period. These combine together with a mixture of kettle and late hopping to yield a crisp pale lager

James Boag’s Premium Lager has a thin, white head, somewhat of a lacing sheen left on the glass, a hazy, yellow-golden appearance, streaming bubbles, and some suspended brown particles visible throughout. The aroma is of pungent, sweet barley malt, sugar, and white bread. Flavor is of sweet, bold malt, white bread, a shadow of paper, and a nice balancing hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium, and James Boag’s Premium Lager finishes semi-dry, refreshing, and supremely drinkable. Overall, this is another very good beer. Buy it, and try it! RJT

I’m not a lager fan at all - but this is a pleasant beer for a thirsty post-golf hacker like me - quite lemony - refreshing - better than the average mass produced lager.

330ml bottle. Pale golden, effervescent and with a small, fading white head. A zippy lemon firmness with grain, grass and subtle pale malts. Light to medium body with a good bitterness to finish of fair length. Crisp and refreshing, though a little over-carbonated for my tastes.

(Can) Clear gold with ok white head. Aroma is ok, slightly sweet slightly grassy hops. Light body, well carbonated. Taste is light malt with some ok bitterness in end. Overall quite drinkable but not great.

A brew that is a better alternative to the bog standard Australian lager (albeit, that is not saying much).

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2014 330ml bottle served in a pilsen glass. A: Pours an absolutely clear and very pale yellow color forming a nice medium and bubbled white head. Good retention and lots of lacings left in the glass S: Strong sweet malts in the nose. Very bready. Light notes of aromatic and grassy hops T: Follows the nose. Strong notes of malts. Quite crispy and bread. Light hops bitterness in the end M: Very light body and medium carbonation. Crispy malty aftertaste O: Good drinkability. Standard Euro Lager, nothing special [ BA Review @ 5/9/2014 ]

Bottle from Continental Food Store, Wakefield. Pale golden, not much of a head. Decent tasting lager with lots of tasty grainy malt and a pilsner character.

One of the better widely available (in the UK) Australian beers, but considering the others that not saying much.

Nearly left Australiana without a taste of this lager- for shame. It slaked my thirst in the first leg of our 26 hour journey home. Clean flavor with light grain and a bit of cleansing hops. A bit if a bitter bite in the finish. Nothing much here but it’s a step above most similar brews.

375ml bottle from Appellation Wines. Cheers Ash! Pours clear pale gold, big white head. Aromas of grass and light lemon. Taste has a light malt sweetness, more light lemon. Medium body, slightly astringent finish. OK.
