Lunkie (1006), Glen Iris, Australia Jun 1, 2008 Sweet malt hop aroma. Red amber colour with good head and lacing. Malt hop flavour with bitter aftertaste. Fizzy palate. MelbBrewers_JD (32), Australia May 26, 2008 Great amber colour. Tastes like a dry-hopped beer. Not much aroma but great mouth-feel. Would buy again. MBison (400), Southern Highlands, Australia Mar 11, 2008 Bottle (375ml). Poured a light amber with frothy, off-white head which was mostly diminishing. Aroma was earthy with caramel malts, sweet toffee, cooked brown sugar, and hints of oranges. Flavor was smooth caramel malts with a light bitterness, subtle fruitiness (oranges) and some metallic notes (light) with a nutty dry finish. Medium bodied with lively carbonation, watery texture, dry mouthfeel and an ok finish. Not a bad beer from Boags, I would say it would have to be my favorite from them by a fair margin, but I found it to be a touch to carbonated for the style. Muggus69 (231), Sydney, Australia Mar 5, 2008 375ml bottle served chilled. Clean pale amber body with fluffy white head and lace. Earthy citrus hops on the nose, some underlying sweet toffee malt. Creamy lively carbonation, sticky texture, lean bodied compared to authentic British ales. Slightly sharp hop presence, dirty marmalade, a bit sweet, reasonably bitter finish, quite abrupt. Another reasonably typical Aussie-made British ale clone, simply doesn’t have the malt backbone and fresh hoppiness of the real thing. bridge (659), Sydney, Australia Dec 18, 2007 Not a bad beer, but nothing on a good english ale. On early whiffs I couldn’t quite decide if it was more pasteurised English ale or dodgy Australian lager. Thankfully it tended toward the English after the head receded. A bit too much of the boiled lollies smell, but it had a pleasant enough fruitiness. Flavour is a little bland. Reasonable enough, but underwhelming
