| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 12, 2009 Pours a deep black moderately viscous stout. Creates a minimal, but thick and dense head which fades fairly quickly to a thin coating of foam. No lacing observed. Faint but pleasant aromas of dark roasted coffee, chocolate, vanilla bean and some spicy/earthy hops. Palate was too thin for an Impy Stout with a bit too much carbonation. Not much fullness or thickness experienced in the mouth feel as expected for the style. Like the aromas the flavors were also fairly weak and wimpy. Dark chocolate, espresso, molasses, burnt caramel and earthiness are subtly perceived. Alcohol was slightly hot due to the thiness and reserved flavors of this stout. With so many good to great Impy Stouts on the market this one is hardly worth seeking out. TomDecapolis (3151), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of roasted malt, chococlate, nuts and light hops. Flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and nuts...a bit on the thin side for a 10% Imp Stout. daknole (2898), Plantation, Florida, USA

Opaque body, minimal toffee colored head. Strong aroma with some dark roast and baking chocolate. Body is a bit thin, and the mouthfeel is a bit chalky. But somehow I found that suited the full, roasty quality of the beer. Above average imperial stout. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Pours a black color with a short lived tan head. Smell is strongly metallic at first, then roasty dark malt. Taste is chalky dark chocolate and is moderately bittered and hoppy. Well balanced for a big imperial stout and the bitter chocolate flavor is nice. Well hidden alcohol and a nice oily body with light carbonation. A bit chalky flavor, but otherwise pretty nice. zathrus13 (1296), Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA

Tastes of roasted malts, piney hops, chocolate, cream, Hershey’s syrup, and slight artificial sweetner. Light to medium body. Thin texture. Soft to average carbonation. Roasty, chocolate and hops finish. Bitter, but I doubt the 100 IBUs claimed.
