tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 28, 2008 Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry, Blankboy, Jerc, Mabel, and GregClow, 3 (3!) bottles shared by Harry and the Blankster. Nice roasty, sweet aroma with some bourbon. Black, small tan head, looks good. Good taste - roasty, well balanced bourbon. Really nice finish, lots of roast, tons of flavour. I upgrade my earlier "good" comment - this is great! mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 13, 2008 [1521-20080711] Bottle. Dark roast wood aroma has a bit of peat and smoky moss. Dark brown black body with a quick light brown foamy head. Roasty dark malt flavour has lots of powdery charcoal-smoked wood. Full body. Long aftertaste of roasted wet wood.
(c/o blankboy & HogTownHarry, w/ them, GregClow, jerc, tupalev) blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 6, 2008 Three bottles (12oz each) shared by me and HogTownHarry with GregClow, jerc, mabel & tupalev. Pours black with an average to large size frothy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt with notes of coffee and chocolate. Flavour of roasted malt, hops, some lactic notes and a roasty dry finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good, not a world-beater but a good, tasty beer. Underhook (162), Lincoln Park, New Jersey, USA Jul 26, 2008 Pours deep black, very little head. Mouthfeel spectacular and creamy like a good stout should be. Burnt, coffee, chocolate taste. Very good imperial stout but doesn’t quite match up with the top of the heap. Best beer I have had from High Point. GregClow (2493), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 20, 2008 Three bottles shared with blankboy, HogTownHarry, jerc, mabel & tupalev - courtesy of HogTownHarry & blankboy. Deep brown-black with a small tan head. Aroma of rich, sweet malt with a slightly lactic backnote. Medium bodied. Flavour is similar to the aroma - big malts, a bit of lactose - along with some building herbal elements from the hops. Body is a bit light for the style, but OK. All in all, a good impy, but not a great one. Gotta love the low-budget labels, though!

The aroma is slightly grassy with cocoa and fruit and roasted malt. The body is brown hued black and holds a small tan head. The first sip gives a bit of hot alcohol followed by some green vegetable notes like fresh unroasted coffee beans. Very grainy flavor for an imperial stout. Some mild chocolate and coffee notes. Also get a bit of green tobacco. Odd, not bad, just very different.
jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 15, 2008 2008-07-11. Black body with a very small brown head that fades. Alcohol in the aroma, touch of wood or something odd. Rough alcohol note to the flavour, bitterness has some nice hop notes, but can be a bit jarring at times. Some nice chocolate undertones. Can’t really make up my mind on this one, it definitely has its moments. Smooth average to medium palate, lightly carbonated. My numbers are a touch higher than I remembered actually liking it, but who knows I was clearly conflicted! Bottles shared by Blankboy and HogTownHarry mkobes (2103), paramus, New Jersey, USA Jul 12, 2008 Bottle 12oz. Deep dark black in color with a nice off white fluffy head that left a nice lacing on the glass. Roasty chocolatety bitter aroma. Toffee notes. Caramel chocolatety roasty flavor. Full bodied. Creamy and smooth tasting. Finish is dry. Very drinkable. Good beer.
