CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jun 10, 2008 Pours a mostly opaque with dark mahogany edges and a nicely-lacing dark tan head. Complex aroma of sweet toasty dark caramel and chocolate malts with nice dark fruity character. Body starts fairly full and silky smooth with a nice earthy dark malty flavor and good roasty smoky flavor before a slightly warming, drier dark chocolatey finish. A nice imperial stout. jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Jun 10, 2008 Pours black with a creamy light brown hrad. Strong aromas of creamy mocha, chocolate, vanilla, a smoky/woody note, nice piny hops, and a good bit bit of booze. Flavor is of creamy milk chocolate, lots of coffee, an underlying woody note, herbalhops towarsd the finish, some boozy notes, and just a hint of vanilla and metal on the back of the palate. Palate is full, smooth, and creamy. garthicus (1215), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 4, 2008 Thanks to HogTownHarry who left it behind in my house (but gave permission to drink it!!!) Aroma is dark malt-licorice/molasses, some dark fruit. Taste is dark malt-licorice/molasses, some dark fruit, faint hops, slight alcohol. Nicely done, not overbearing. Occasional. dmac (1418), Toms River, New Jersey, USA May 22, 2008 12 oz bottle from Oak Tree. Pours a deep dark black, thickness on this one falls somewhere between slightly thin for an Impy and slightly thick for a regular stout. The head on this one is light brown and small, typical for an Impy, that starts of bubbly but disipates and when agitated turns into a small tight ring of foamy lace. Aroma on this one is roasty chocolate, espreso, sweet from dark fruit and alcohol, I’m thnking dark rum. Fuller bodied that has a nice light touch of carbonation. Flavor of dark rum, dark fruit and dark chocolate. A good solid start up for a company that I hope is around for a long time to come, however I faaaar prefer Boaks other start up beer. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA May 19, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark brown body with a small creamy off white head. This beer is a bit thin for a RIS but nevertheless has a good aroma. Chocolate, roasted coffee, dark fruit, and some etoh. Flavor as above with a light hoppiness. I enjoyed this more at a cooler temp the etoh seemed to be in the dark.
