BBB63 (3619), La Porte, Indiana, USA Mar 24, 2008 At the BBB63 comes to Tampa gathering, thanks to mgumby10 for the offering, how many mgumby’s are there?:
Pitch black with a small creamy head and good lacework. The aroma has notes of prune, walnut, chocolate, charred and grainy malts, and a hint of hop spice. The taste is twangy and toasty with a chocolate background. Grassy, herbal, coffee and slightly smoky as well. Some veggie (DMS) notes as it warms. The mouth feel is lively but a tad chalky as well, alcohol mostly hidden. Solid brew when cool, not so great once warm. goldtwins (3559), Nesconset, New York, USA Apr 7, 2008 Poured a clear very deep brown color with a minimal sized tan head and brown legs. The beer smelled like licorice and bologna. the flavor is fairly sweet and roasty. Notes of bitter dark chocolate and licorice. There were some piny hops in the middle and finish. The beer dries out rather quickly leaving a moderate bitterness. Some warmth with a medium body. The beer seemed gritty. The mouthfeel started out sticky and sweet but ended dry. bu11zeye (3464), Frisco, Texas, USA Mar 15, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a dark brown body with a small tan head. Interesting aroma of hatch green chilies, freshly fried corn tortillas, light roastiness, cocoa, bubble gum, some pesticide, overly ripen citrus, and light tobacco. Flavor of roasted malt, vegetable (most green pepper), caramel, nuts, and dry cocoa. Mouthfeel and flavor is a bit on the thin side for an Imperial Stout.
